There probably aren't enough programmers to do everyone at once so it may take a little bit of time as people do the upgrade few cars at a time. With that said... its so ridiculously easy to do through the OBD2 port so I highly suggest it rather than trying to take the ECU out and shipping such an expensive piece of hardware half way around the country.
All you need is a windows XP based laptop & free USB port. The rest is pretty basic, just simple program install and a few step process to replace stock software w/ upgraded software.

The programmingn process was super easy. It really doesn't matter what OS u have on the laptop. I was able to do it with windows 7 so I'd imagine all the others work also

I guess the question is will I still be able to get the group buy price if I choose to ship the programmer. I don't mind paying the $500 deposit and waiting for my turn (assuming we would go in the order we signed up for the list). Thanks

Good to confirm, most windows are backwards compatible so I assume as long as its XP, vista or 7 you should be good. Not 100% sure about Mac support though, that may not be an option (you'd have to ask)...

well that was what i was thinking the other day. if he sends us the programmer, why cant we do it by area.
i was actually thinking this awhile ago but for example, i pay the deposit for the programmer, and its going to be 300 for the thing anyways. so i round up all the 320 guys from the forum in the bay area or if i can open it up to the 500 guys too even better, but if i can set the program to whatever i want, 300 divided by how many guys come in to do the programming. so the more the merrier and cheaper at that. or even like a set price. like $100 for the flash instead of 300. im sure everyone here is down to pay 200 less and still get the flash.

There is one problem. The first step after getting the programmer is extracting your "signature" from your ECU and emailing it to SpedtuningUSA so they could prepare you tune file. When it's ready they will email it to you then you would hook everything up again and load the tune file to the ECU.

I don't think it's specific to mods because when I asked Oliver if he had to make the tune different because of my 2nd cats/resonator delete he said it makes no difference. I also asked about upgrading the airbox and again he said it makes no difference.
I do know that the tune file is based on the ECU that you have. He made me read some number off the ECU. You and I could probably share a file.
