Thanks! I know my question was funny... it is because when I tried to hookup my motorized plate to the battery I saw a filter above the cover of the battery... so I thought it was that one! hehe...
Thanks for the pics again! You're amazing!

This one is the pollen filter. Mine haven't been changed for maybe 3 years, I should replace it soon.
dynomite05: I, too, have a 2004 CLK320 and I did not know there are 2 air filters. I did buy one a few months ago and asked the guy to replace it when he changed my oil. I wondered which one he replaced. How did you find the Green air filter, as compared to stock?

If you want to be safe, stick with stock. Over oiling for K&N can corrupt your MAF sensor from properly sensing the density of air flow; the oil can also leak into intake and screw other stuff up. A couple of people recommend disposing K&N after the usage mileage than re-oiling the filters. I'm using K&N and I feel definitely a slight power increase as well as a more aggressive tone to the engine. There are many debates for K&N that the reason why you get less restricted air is that the filter doesn't filter the air all the way and allows more unclean air through. But i don't know, it's a judgment call.

I was told by a Mercedes dealer mechanic that Mann filters are make the OEM filters and are exactly the same things minus the Mercedes logos. He showed me the two side by side and they sure looked alike other then logos and color. I got my from Amazon

Also I check my regularly as when I got the car at 30k miles they looked horrible. Lots of dirt, leafs and crap clogging them up. No idea if they were changed before.

so lemme get this straight, i did a quick search for the k&n filters. seems like they are washable/reusable but ppl nub the re-oiling part which messes with the MAF?
so if i were to go with k&n filters, i could just rebuy them every 50k or every other years (whichever comes first) and i should be fine?
i wonder also if the aftermarket filters give an extra little grunt rofl.
lemme know how your e55 set up goes, i think ima just stick with aftermarket filters and kevlar tubing.
