Nope, no reason why that should happen. Check the seal on the light.

I get water vapor inside the housing if I parked it overnight outside when it is frosty.

Inside? I have had condensation on the outside, but never inside. There has to be a seal going bad, no?

Yup, condensation on the inside. Does not happen when driving in rain or automatic car wash. Not sure if the seal is bad. I am waiting to have enough monies to upgrade to HIDs

Check to make sure that the bulb connector/asembly is correctly 'closed up'/sealed on the back of the headlight housing. If you're not getting any water in from the front side, you may be getting it in on the other. Vapor droplets are very small and dont need much room to find their way into a dry area.

Just an idea.

Are you using after market HID and if so assuming that you had to make a hole in your plastic cover make sure it's sealed!

Yes, but water vapor collects and forms drops, that's what you have right? It sure sound like its a very small opening to me considering the way nothing enters from the front in rain but it will when its cool and humid.

All this happened after I got some body work done to my bumper at a body shop

They are claiming they had nothing to do with water leaking in except that my car was in the shop for 3 weeks..one of which was pretty much down pouring

Ah, here's what I think now - the moisture is sealed in there. When it was in the bodyshop and pouring they might have had the headlights off or the blubs out, the humid air got in & they put it all back together. Now when it's cold out the moist air fogs up.

On a cold day when there is very low humidity, pull the car in your garage, pop out the bulb, use a hairdryer to blow hot dry air into the housing until its nice and warm then seal it back up. If you have no leaks that should solve the problem as the humid air will have been dried out.

Kevwood...thanks so much for your analysis..i believe that is a correct mechanism

However the spots of water have actually dried onto the lamp housing plastic itself

I actually brought the car back to the body shop where "this has happened to them before" from another car. So they did try to blow dry it... However since the condensation has already left spots... Not sure what to do next

Pop the bulbs out and use windex and twist-tied cotton swaps on the end of something like a pencil to reach inside the housing and clean it. I had a bulb shatter inside the housing of another car and did this to clean it all up (it was a major PIA to remove the housing).
