Quote: Is that a rear strut bar or a sway bar... looks like a sway bar right! Just wondering why you'd wrap it in CF bc if it's a sway bar, you would never see it and it would twist and flex as loads are transferred across it, likely shattering the resin. Swaybars are metal bc it's malleable, never seen one out of CF though it would make more sense to make a chassis bar or strut tower bar out of CF as those are meant for rigidity... I guess it must be a strut bar but I can't picture where it goes. Behind the rear seats, visible in the trunk?
It's a CLK63 AMG Black Series rear strut tower bar modified to work in a non BS 209. The design of the bar bolts to the strut towers then down to a bracket behind the rear seats - excellent design. I wrapped it in CF to continue the cosmetic flow of the car, white/carbon/chrome.

Don't worry about me covering a sway bar in CF, I'm pretty well versed when it comes to cars

Quote: sorry for the outburst guys, just can't stand these losers messing up this thread by posting spam... got way too much of that already... I'll behave from now on:p

edited my post too
No appologies dude, I got a kick out of it and believe me, I've done the same over the past few years time and again.

Most likely when I get back from NYC & Houston, May 7th'ish... I was foolishly hoping to see it done before I leave on the 24th, the installer promised Thursday and as usual, he's no where near done. I've stopped asking because I'm sick of him looking me in the face and lying. The shop owner is all over him now, we'll see what happens. Whatever does happen I'm sure it'll play out in slow motion.

Last pic and update before I head to NYC and Houston for 2 weeks.

Custom CLK Black Series strut bar brackets are fabbed, they go in for sandblasting and powder coating next;

Very little detail can be seen on the bracket but they are pretty trick, more pictures later

I'm trying to fill in the blanks like a puzzle, assuming each asterisk is one letter (as I believe was the case whenever I've crossed the line, lol). What the heck could be a two-letter expletive?!?

I'm starting to think that the clown doing my install was outsourced from the shop doing Wes's engine swap. Incompetence all around...

On that note, all the pieces are built/finished, wiring is done, putting it all back together now (pictures sent to me today). What a f'in marathon, I'm in Cairo this week so when I get back I'll finally get to see it 'finished' on the weekend. Then the car moves to the next bay and gets the custom body/paint work done.

No idea, I've tried countless times to get a hold of him before i went to NYC, when i was in NYC and since I've left NYC. Aside from getting an update from him, he's had parts of mine for quite some time now that I'd like to get.

Still not done and I got so pissed off a few days ago I went out and bought another new toy to keep me distracted for a while;

Last I heard (3 days ago) was that the system is done and the interior was getting cleaned up before being put back in. I havent gone and looked at the car for a while, guess I will this Saturday. The problem now is that it's summer time, no racing, no shows and +130*F heat so I won't be using the CLK much until September. That "installer" f'ed up my entire late winter/spring plans for hitting the track and shows.

I'm not even pissed off any more, just disgusted.

Hmm... Guess the best to do with that "thing" is to ram it through the shop once you get the Benz out.... Next year I mean..

Hey Kev, be very careful with that new toy. A little know "issue" with Hummers is that they are not very safe. If you roll it, even gently, the roof will crush down to the doors. Compare this to a W163 where the roof can't be crushed, even when dropped from 50 feet in the air (check out the movie Swordfish). Otherwise, enjoy!

I'm not sure what I'm even going to do with it, I've always liked the look of them so when the wife decided she didn't want a ML and wanted to keep the C class I went out and bought it for myself. I'll use it in the summer so my CLK can stay out of the heat, might do a few cosmetic mods to it, not sure. Just a daily driver I guess, cheap as chips to maintain, nice change from the MB's.

***A/V SYSTEM UPDATE***

Got a call yesterday at about 6pm, the audio installation is finished. The "installer", aka, clown, had it fired up and was starting to tune it. As long as all went well last night the interior should be going in today then the car will get moved over to the paint/detail bay for the next round.

I'm going to go stop by today afterwork and see if this miracle is infact true (and maybe snap a pic or two for you guys).
