I suggested blacj because it's something different and it actually looks amazing on a blacj car but I see your point.
Im a little more underground, don't like to draw too much attention with flashiness thus the reason why I didn't purchase a white clk although its my favorite color. I wouldnt be able to get home without being noticed in a white benz so i went for the second best color choice & my goal is to make it to look & sound like the devil so I am in the process of blacjing out errrrrrthang!!
Be sure to tell us the results if you use it.As others have mentioned, I also have used steel wool to get stubborn marks off tips.
For the exterior of the tailpipes, I suggest using a non-scratch scouring pad - one that you'd use in the kitchen. This is to prevent you from putting fine scratches on the polished outside of the tailpipes.
For the insides of the tailpipes, I used a fine grade sand paper to remove all the bonded on crap.
Then I hit the tailpipes with some autosol (polish).
Now I just wipe the tailpipes out after each time I drive the car.
