Direct Control standard in a 2006 CLK

Hello all, I'm on a verge of replacing my old 2001 318Ci with M2 sports package with an 2006 CLK 220 CDI avantgarde and I'm a bit worried about the ride difference between them. I'm pretty sure the 220 is a faster and more economical car to have since my 318 has 8 valves (only 2 per cyl), 118bhp, and manages around 9.6-10.2l/100km in city core where i spend most of the time.

Now to the problem at hand: You see, my BMW has a stiff sport suspension and 18" wheels with low profile tyres so the ride is quite crispy, precise and very fast... but very uncomfortable, still, I'm used to it.
I've read up on CLK's, and know the basics about the engine, and that the avantgarde sould be the "sporty" package.
Since I haven't driven one yet, and won't be able to till I get my hands on it in the next month i wonder what's the ride like? soft, sporty? compared to other sports coupes?

I read about the Direct Control technology in the facelifted post 2005 CLK's and can somebody tell me: Does it come as standard on all 2006 CLK's.

Thank you for your patience and help!

I drive the racism out of BadDebt. ;)
If you're going to get the 220CDI, the suspension will be super soft, with little to no fun to drive in OEM form.

I will push you to upgrade the swaybars immediately then lower the car with a good set of shocks/struts and a set of lowering springs to compliment. After that, I would suggest you buy a different car if you want something with some snappy reactions.

Some cheap Ideas:

AMG Black Series Swaybars (front and rear)
Bilstein Shocks/Struts + H/R Springs or just opt for Coilovers....

Tnx man, I'll look into those later as i drive the car... I'm kinda dissapointed it will be as soft as you say. So you can't say if the Direct Control comes as standard on all post-2005 CLK's?
Since the CLK is a gift from my parents for finishing college and finding a job i don't have much saying in it except wether i want the car or not.

Objectively, do you think the CLK is a good replacement for me as a coupe guy? I've had the BMW with me for more than 4 years now and it grew onto me, especially since I've always been a BMW guy, and this will be my first Merc (I've driven a lot Merc's since there's an sl55 amg, e320, e270 and e220, cl500 and an old 1997 slk, and a restored 1976 w123 in my family so i'm pretty acquainted with the mercedes brand).

The car itself is an 2006 Avantgarde (as already said) with COMAND interface, yellow leather interior and sunroof as options, everything else is stock i think, no parking sensors (as opposed to the BMW which has parking sensors back so I'm kinda used to the handy things), no xenons, heated seats or any other additional eq. But then again, neither of those things has my BMW, so i guess the Merc is a bit better equipped with the sunroof an COMAND interface.

My $0.02 here, you'll love the CLK for a daily driver, very nice smooth touring car. I was really impressed with the ride quality when I bought mine. All that has of course changed now but I still think its a great daily.

Thanks for the comments.

Surprisingly there is a really good aftermarket for the 209, I bought the car just to play with and mod before moving onto something else in 2013 - I have no regrets and love evry minute I get to drive it.

I am attending a test & tune track night on Thursday, it will the the first time back on the track with the new suspension, brakes and Kleemann conversion - really looking forward to the results.

Nice, hope you have some logged data from before the mods so you can compare them
