Loss of power after installing exhaust on clk 550?

hi, new to this part of the forum i will be receiving my 550 this friday.

Ive been looking at a bunch of Quad exhausts for the 550. Im particularly interested in the CF rear diffuser with amg tips. What my question is that lets say i decide to install reg Magnaflows with Amg Tips, will there be any loss of power? I see that the race exhaust will run you an arm just to buy, so i don't expect getting those anytime soon. however it would be nice to have a deep sound from Quads.

Less resistance = more power. The gains will be miniscule but you will not lose power.

You will loose power if you restrict the exhaust.

You can also loose power with a reduction in back pressure with certain tuning & valve overlap/cam timing. Wide open drain pipe is not always best.

What you intend doing is unlikely to trigger either condition.

Make sure that all silencers/mufflers/resonators are straight through and any one into two devices are Y shaped internally & not labyrinth. You don't want anything that sends a shock wave back up the pipes toward the engine such as a T piece or worse would do. Please note that two-stroke tuning is another matter. I'm only talking four-stroke here

Thanks for your input! What does a 2 or 4 stroke tuning mean ?

Power you will gain specially top end but too much of free flow you might lose torques. You need some back pressure for torques.

Ok so my next question is how exactly would I go about integrating a full quad exhaust that gains the most hp without losing the least amount of torque? Is there any one on the forum who has a before and after dyno with a full description of their install?

the backpressure and losing torque corrolation normally only applies to smaller displacement engines (4 cylinders and small 6 cylinders) turbo motors and larger discplacement V8's (5.0 included) like a big, free flowing exhaust in most cases.

Google 2 stroke & 4 stroke engines for definition.

A two stroke engine depends on exhaust tuning to operate efficiently. Both port valve & reed valve engines depend on a shock pulse from the reverse cone in the end of the exhaust to control proper cylinder scavenging. i.e. to exhaust the spent fuel charge after combustion but not to leak the new air/fuel charge into the exhaust.
