04 CLK: Multicontour Seats Not Available

I ordered a CLK 500 Cabrio a couple of wks ago with multiple options. My sales rep called me yesterday to inform me that the multicontour seats will not be available for the 04 CLK's. However, the brochure still show them as an option. Has anyone ordered an 04 CLK with multicont seats? What about the non availability rumor?

TIA,
Guido

Is your dealer confuing the multicontour seats with the ventilated seats? - you know, the ones with the little fans blowing cool air on your too-warm-tush! My understanding (from somewhere on MBWorld) was that it was the later that would not be available until this fall.

No. I ordered from ASC in Arlington. They told me that the ventilated seats will be available, but not the multi cont.

I called MB USA, but I didn't get a straight answer from them either.

I have a 2004 CLK55 on order that has already been built and is at the docks in the USA. I can tell you that the multicontour seats are there- although standard on the AMG's.

As reported, it is the ventilated seats that willbe avilable later this year.

You have my condolences. I went to that dealership and found them inflexible, stodgy and uninformed. It mast be the fumes from the Aston Martins and Porsche turbos they sell.

Also stay away from the Princeton MB dealership. They think everyone is either wealthy beyond belief or that most of us just fell off the tunip truck - can't tell which.

Thanks for your reply. Please post pictures when you get it delivered.

This is what I got from MB USA today:

<The mutli-contoured seats have a delayed availability at this time, and we do not have an estimated date as to when they will become available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

If we can be of any further assistance, please feel free to call us at
1-800-FOR-MERCedes (1-800-367-6372).

Sincerely,

Isn't this similar to the NAV situation?

Aren't the ventilated seats only available with the multi contour? Anyone able to confirm that the ventilated seats can be ordered now even if the contour seats are delayed availablity? Also curious if the "delayed availability" on the ash colored top for the CLK Cabrio is still in effect? Do you have an email for the customer service rep whose reply you posted?

Nope. No email, but you have her name and number. The brochure shows a "comfort package" which includes both, the multi-cont and vent seats. I didn't order the package, only the multi-cont seats.
I think they're completely oblivious.
Perhaps somebody else can inquire with their local dealer and post their response. I should be interesting to see what others are saying.

Guido.

The '04 brochure does infact show both the Multicontour and Ventilated seats as "delayed availablity". However I believe this to be incorrect. AMG models come standard with the multicontour seats and they are being built and delivered as we speak. I know, mine is the US now!

In talking with my dealer when ordering my '04 CLK55 they were informed that only the ventilated option was being delayed. The ventilated option is not dependent, and vice versa, on ordering the multicontour seats.

Any way, if you order now your build date might well fall into the tiime frame when both will be available.

I am receiving delivery of my CLK 500 next week and they were not available. I will be receiving another CLK 500 in October and my salesperson confirmed multicontour & ventilated seats will be on the car.
