seat belt extender problems
The drivers side works. But he passenger side works rarely. What triggers the belt extender to come out. is there some type of sensor. Thanks

It is triggered by the door switch - it's a plunger style switch on the B pillar, near the latch strike. If opening the door with the engine on and in drive gives you a warning on the MFD, then the switch is working and the problem is in the presenter itself.

No, the seat sensor is only used for the airbag. if you open the door and the dome light or the MFD doesn't register that, then you have a bad switch. It's an inexpensive and easy DIY repair.

I wonder if the frigid cold temperatures we're having up here have anything to do with it? I haven't checked the fuses yet (the aforementioned cold has turned me into a bigger ***** than usual) but another issue is the car not shutting off when I push the Keyless-Go button and open the door. The first time that happened, I got the key into the ignition to shut off the car, but the second time I took so long to get the key out of my pocket that it eventually did shut off. Maybe the door switch is slowed by the cold?

These crazy cold temps can sure cause some weird problems, but the engine shutting off has nothing to do with the door switch - pressing the Start/Stop should stop the engine regardless.

Hi everyone,
CLK Coupe 2004, the driver seat belt extension arm extends and retracts without stopping. A few weeks ago it started doing that, although sometimes it seemed to work regularly. Now it no longer stops. The dome light and seat controls are working fine. Any idea?

I'm editing my comment on the seat belt fast extension / retracting no stop, as this: following prior comments in this forum, I turned the engine on, engaged transmission in Drive mode and opened the driver door - no warning sign comes on. Also the central interior light in the overhead panel does not turn on when opening the door (not sure whether there's a sensor for daylight control). Fuse #32 and #33 are okay. Any recommendation to have the seat belt extension arm fixed?

if the interior lights are not responding when closing the door, then you have a faulty door switch that is stuck on closed circuit. The switch is located under the door latch.

Mine would go in an out three or four times before stopping. Almost always in weather below 40 degrees. Took the motor apart an cleaned the gunk out and it has not happened once since. It's an easy motor to take apart.

I think I might have a faulty door switch because I removed fuses 3 and 9 then it worked fine for a while and then went bad.
Does anyone knows which control module controls the interior lights on the dash, legend lights on buttons etc?

I want to update my last post on the driver belt extension arm. It seems that the issue is not because of the door switch. The dome light is working properly as well the MFD door open warning. The problem still persists. I would appreciate if someone can help.

when I connected Star diagnostic to my W209, it showed be code B1406 for seat belt extender. B1406 is for limit switch of the left seat belt extender is defective. I don't where this limit switch is located

I was able to fix the driver seat belt extension / retraction. I took the side panel off and noticed that without that panel, the seat belt was working just fine. The head of the extender was not totally hooked on the track.

Yes. I guess it's called Catch hook. It was not totally inserted into the extender arm. Without the side panel it was working just fine. I guess the trim ring, that triangular plastic piece that fits on the side panel, was somehow holding and causing the problem.

there is a slide bar that you need to pull to separate the upper panel from the lower panel. Its easy to remove. To access the slide bar you will need to remove the weather rubber trip on the side of the door panel. If you need pictures let me know
