Question 722.6 Transmission - Dropping revs slightly

Hey Guys,

Just needed some advice,

My car seems to do this thing in 4th gear when driving slow to moderate once it reaches around 2500+- revs, it just suddenly drops revs slightly to around 2100+-

Only in 4th gear though,

Any advice? Is this cause to be concerned, the car is approaching its 60k tranny fluid flush...

Thanks so much in advance.

Regards
Ebrahim

So you are shifting it manually so that you are holding it in fourth? Because what you are describing sounds like it shifted to 5th.

Hey,

Honestly I thought it was shifting into 5th, but its not a shift, its a slight drop that almost feels like the car is pulled backwards slightly, and then it later shifts into 5th.

Its a very sudden drop, almost as if the car is slipping on that specific point.

The first thing that comes to my mind is the Transmission Conductor Plate starting to go bad maybe. I am not sure if you changed that yet or not, but my 320 was experiencing harsher/jerkier shifts and then after a while it threw the P0715 code.

After changing the conductor plate, the shifts went back to perfect smooth.

As far as I can tell from the cars history, I don't think the Conductor plate has been replaced as yet,

Is this a big job?

I am not saying that this is the problem you are having, but the conductor plate going bad is a common problem with the 722.6 which results in harsher shifts. I used to experience harsh 2-->3 and 3-->4 but 4--> was ok.

I am not sure where you are located but it cost me $1237 at the dealership here in Ontario, Canada.

I wouldn't replace it though until you start receiving codes. Did you scan for errors at all?

Haven't taken it anywhere for codes yet, just curious what it might be,

Change the fluid and filter and check codes.

I'll try this and revert back,

Since this is the 60k tranny flush, do you guys recommend a full or partial flush?

Well, to do a "full flush", you have to first do the 4-liter partial fill after dropping the pan. So, I'd first do the partial with a filter change, and if that doesn't help, or if the fluid is just really dirty, do the flush:
