Window Switch

My front, left window switch is not working. I can press down to roll the window down but when I lift the switch, the window would not go up.

I checked the window switch and noticed that if I pressed down the small "base" of the switch and lifted the switch, the window would go up.

Anyone has experience on this? Not sure the cultpirt is the switch or the small base plate. Does anyone have the part number(s)?

You'll likely need to replace the entire switch unit. It's not difficult, and you should be able to find an aftermarket or used part for under $100. I bought one on eBay for the C240 for $80. It was an aftermarket part, but looks and works just like OEM.

It is not easy to find used or after-market parts in Canada, especially for a w209.

You are right. All the 4 window switches belong to the same part, 209-820-3410. Found it in oediscountparts wiuth extra 4 digits at the end, 7167.

Do you have a WIS for the replacement? Clips at the sides or do I have to remove the door panel?

This is what I am afraid of.
Not sure how to open the door panel. Must be a combination of clips and screws.

Maybe this will help:

http://benzbits.com/w209/DoorPanel.pdf

Once the panel is off, you'll find the switches held in place by a white plastic clip. Just slide it to release.

I called an MB indie and I was told it's 2 hours to remove and install back the door panel. ???

I checked the instruction and it's not too bad. Are there instructions how to remove the mirror triangle speaker (AR82.62-P-7850Q)?

Also, where do I get the clips in case I break them?

I read the instructions to remove the door panel and it is not too difficult. I do have to find out how to remove the triangle speaker.

I checked my car and it does have the side airbag. Any concern to activate it be mistake?

turn off the car. unplug the key. i also did mine once.
the triangle speaker must be pushed kinda upwards and it unclips. easy.

then you must untap the plastic taps on the panel. under the handle the round one and the srs badge.

then push the panel upwards. be carefull though.

after you change the switch watch for panel internals to be inplace., they really help for rattles.

take care.

Did you simplify the procedure? Only 2 screws to remove, under the SRS badge and under the door inside handle?

According to the WIS, there are a few screws and clips (6) to undo before removing the panel.

Good you mentioned the light. This step is not in the WIS. I assume I have to remove a socket in the back of the light because pulling out the door panel.
