I sold my m3 for CLK (not by choice)

I had a unpleasant visit to MB dealer about 3 weeks ago to get my G fog lights replaced. Wife saw a beautiful CLK320 cov. and got hooked. I tried to beg her and let her have my m3 keys. Her exact comment was " you car is too rough and hard for me. I am about to throw up in your car".

Since I have already bought E55 and has a deposit on the M5. She states in a super clear message, get rid on of my toy and get her one. So off goes the M3, and welcome the CLK320.

I really miss the fun of a M3. Especially with factory 19. It was a blast to drive. Instead, of my beautiful CB M3 in my garage waiting for me for the weekend fun. I got a CLK320 cabrio to look for. YIKES!!!!!

that does suck, but it is really hard to feel sorry for a guy with a new clk convertible, a g55, an e55, and an upcoming new m5, sorry

My dealer has no CLK55 Cabrio in stock. I had delay coming down the dealership for 3 days. The white one my wife saw was sold. She gave me the worst crap for 3 days. So when the next Cabrio comes in (a firemist), to keep my ear quiet I have to go down and sign the paper work.

Like i said earlier, I was into this car.

Hi Mr Wu

I have not convinced my wife yet and therefore the CLKcab is still on holding pattern.

As for BMW 3xx cab compared to the CLK cab, are you indicating that you will have preferred to keep the BMW?

My wife actually wants a 330ci convertible but I think it is a lot tighter (feels smaller) compared to the CLK cab. I had test drove both the 330ci and the CLK320. Didn't push the cars during the test drive .... fearing that I may fall in love and do something stupid (such as buying one without consulting the misses).

Though the performance on the 330ci is better but I thought the CLK has better ergonomics and better overall.

Your thoughts?

I have never owned a regular E46 before. Although I have driven them a couple times.

330ci handles better, and steering response is about right. Personally I would take 330ci over CLK320. Because I do not think CLK320 is worth about $5 to $10k more and I am more of a performance oriented guy.

That being said, there are a lot of things that CLK does well. For example, the interior material is excellent. The 330ci's interior material is pits. The carpeting and espeically in insulated tops are just much better than mercedes. Ergonomics, I actually prefered seating position of e46. But that's only my preference.

CLK320 handles decent but not up to e46 with sports package. Without sports package, CLK actually feels firmer and more responsive.

There are some issues I do have problem with CLK and MB in general. There are just too many buttons to push in the dash. Small and hard to see. Not only that, everything is just not logically placed. Some of ther stereo control are also mind boggling. The E46 design is much simpler and easier to use.

For example, in E46 the stereo power and vol are combined into one button. However, this is a two button job on mercedes.

Also, you have buttons to zoom in and zoom out of map, a button to show map... this just goes on and on.

It really depends on what your wife wants. My wife has strong dislike of BMW, so CLK based on its beautiful exterior, and excellent opulent interior wins.

If your wife is into more of a luxury feel, then buy CLK.

Yeah, true true. Honestly I was actually going to get the M3 and that color, LSB, but im getting to see lots of M3 around Los Angeles, and lots of fixed up ones too. Seems like i was too late to get into the M3 market... This is why i decided to get the CLK instead. I havent noticed many people driving it, especially modded ones.....

MANY M3's and millions of 3 series.

Few 209's, even the 208's are scarce.

I've had a BMW and it is an ultimate driving machine. The 209 is art on wheels.

Sorry KK....didn't mean to go off like that. It just makes me mad to see someone sell their baby because the wife says so.
Forgive me.
