Upgrade from plastic to chrome key fob
I've seen the chrome key fobs for sale but is this as simple as tranferring the chip from the old to the new? I really like the chrome keys and I hate these plastic ones. It's for an 05.
Thanks

If you are referring to the old black key and the chrome key that replaced it, then Im pretty sure the dealer only replaces the keys with the chrome one now..as far as transferring the chip I think it can be done, but difficult and needs to be programmed. Also the keys are laser cut

Last year I bought a chrome key fob from the dealer to replace one of my old black ones which had severe wear and starting to crack. It came pre-programmed in a plastic bag according to your VIN. The dealer rep just handed me the plastic bag and I was good to go. It cost me $200 plus $50 for the emergency key. The emergency key from the black key fob does not fit into the new chrome key fob. I found out the hard way.

The guy dark-knight has kind of stopped doing them so I have been debating doing them. Just knocking out some freebies for now. May start an Ebay biz if it looks like it would work.
