New member! 2004 CLK500

Hello, all! Recently purchased a 2004 CLK500 with 102k miles on it, mom-owned, and garage kept. Overall, very happy with it. Check engine light was not on when purchased, but it came on yesterday and is back off today. There is a P0703 code stored, not sure if the scanner used is able to read TCU codes (it is pointing to incorrect gear ratios which the new 13 pin plug adapter that is arriving today will hopefully fix?). Would welcome any feedback or questions, thank you!

Po703 is usually for a faulty brake switch. Do your brake lights go on when you put your foot on the brake pedal. It they do not replace the brake switch

Thanks for your reply, my brake lights seem to be working fine. A friend and I popped the 13 pin plug out from the trans last night and it was coated in fluid. I've noticed a few hard shifts here and there and if I give it too much throttle it goes into limp mode. Twice I've had to pull over and put it in park and then back to drive and it's fine.

That's not good. Make sure to replace the pilot bushing with the new updated part and pull the TCU from the under the side carpet on the passenger side and dry it out/make sure it's dry. Plenty of info on this when you search for it.

This problem is fixed! The culprit was low transmission fluid.

That not the culprit thats a side effect. You pilot bushing (13 pin trans plug) is leaking oil which is very common on your transmission. That flicks oil into the TCU as xsever told you. Change that part ASAP or risk ruining your TCU which will ruin your trans and obviously will leak oil causing the issue your having.

The 13 pin plug adapter was replaced before I added any trans fluid.

great, then you just need to check your TCU for oil just in case.
