Check Engine Light - Purge Control Valve Issue
I'm still relatively new to the Mercedes world (~8 months), and am trying to troubleshoot a fault code that's causing my 'Check Engine' light to come on in my 2004 CLK320.
I have an iCarsoft tool that's giving me the following error message:
P2026-004 Y58/1 (Purge control valve) Open circuit/switchover valve permanently closed (P0444)
I've cleared up several fault codes myself, all electrical stuff that I was happy to replace. But this one has me stumped.
I searched around a bit, but it appears the solution varies from situation to situation.
Anyone have any suggestions on where to start? Should I look for an indy to take a look at this?
If it returns, I'll be using the image you provided to give this a quick look myself, and will likely stop by my mechanic to get his opinion.
I'll update this thread if anything else happens. Thanks guys!
I am having similar problems with my purge valve as well (clk55amg). I find it mostly happens when I fill up the tank. Is this valve some kind of breather for the fuel tank. Will I need to remove the fuel tank to replace the valve? or is it easily reachable inside the rear wheel arch as I seem to recall someone mentioning this a while back. The check engine light sometimes goes off after a while, but it still worries me while its on. Which part is most likely to be at fault, the valve by the tank or the solenoid in the engine bay.
