Question Need Help Identifying Connector - Please take a guess.

Can someone please help me identify where this plug connects? I am trying to finish up the infamous balance shaft job on my wife's CLK 350 and had almost everything connected but this one plug. It is located in the front left. I wasn't concerned with it as I was putting in the engine because I thought it connected to the radiator or something up front but I cannot for the life of me see where it is supposed to go. I am at a standstill until I identify what this connects to. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is where it is coming from.

Different shot.

End view.

Three wires and their colors.

Does that say "210-540-43-81" on the end of the connector? That gives me "travel sensor" but I'm not sure what that would be in the front-left of the car

Ambit,

I dragged out a light and a magnifying glass and at first I thought it said 43, but after looking at it for a while I think it says 210 540 63 81 rather than 43. What is a travel sensor anyway? Maybe the same plug is used for other things in different parts of the car.

Thanks for looking into it for me.

Mike

What about upstream or downstream oxygen sensor?

Just a random thought. If all else fails, start the car and scan for codes, maybe that will give a clue as to what's unplugged.

No that's not it. I just put the exhaust back on and had to connect all 4 O2 sensors. Thanks for the suggestion.

That's probably what I will end up doing. I just pulled the engine, did a balance shaft replacement and have reinstalled the engine, so I suspect I will have a number of error codes to work through. But, one of them may jump out as the clear culprit.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Sadly it looks like that part number was used for a bunch of different connectors. I see an 'air quality sensor' and a bunch of ESP / Traction control sensors with that plug

Got it. It turns out I covered the connection for this connector when I flipped up the bottom cover for the radiator. This plug connects to the bottom left corner of the radiator. It is a sensor for the expansion valve (I guess that is what it is).

Brain dead me flipped it up before checking for that connector.

Thanks to all.

Yes it is. Turns out I flipped up the black bottom radiator cover before looking at that plug. I thought about it later, flipped it back down and saw the connection.

Thanks for your help.

Take Care
