Hi All,

The car will be on the dyno in about two weeks after we have done a few more miles in it. We will be doing the ECU again and will let you know what HP the car has.

Thats brutal. Who does this kind of work in Australia ??? Nice setup.

Not sure about the HID swap but the ceramic brakes seem like a nice idea. I guess the replacement cost is no bother.

Hi Benzmodz,

The rear bumper cut out was done by a authorised MB panel shop, cost me $586.00 Australian. The Sports muffler 3" plus the extra chrome oval tips cost me $495.00 Autralian and was done by Price Right Exhausts Brisbane but any good fabrication exhaust shop would be able to do the work.

The DTM rear spoiler I had made in Germany, cost me 980 euros. But since they now have the mould it would be a little cheaper. Talk to Hermann Bader at MKB Motorenbau GmbH and mention Robert from Brisbane Australia.

Ceramic Brakes came from the USA and the lights upgrade came from Japan.

The ECU is done by a firm in Brisbane that has direct access to the ECU via a DB2 connection, they do a lot of Porche, Ferrari, GT3 race cars, etc.

Suspension, extra lowering is with Bradus springs with I bought from Bradus here in Melbourne and will be installed by City Suspension Brisbane tomorrow.

Took about 2 weeks to get everything done.

I know a lot of people that are passionate about exotic performance mods but this has to be one of the more exciting packages. I keep the DTM cabrio as my wallpaper because I think it is a unique car.

It is nice to see the main elements on a street going version of the AMG and not looking wrong.

Nice package ....

Let me know if you want to meet up in Dec. I am flying up for some mods.

We can do Digital TV for that little baby ....

I am very interested in your personal review of the sound pressure (volume) from the quads. As the "official" banter being thrown around is that the quad was too much for the cabrio. Your opinion would be appreciated.

We used the aftermarket sports muffler from the 5.8 V8 Holden Monaro which is known as the GTO in the USA I think. As you maybe aware the V8 car racing here in Australia between Ford & Holden is pretty big and this muffler is put on the generation 3 motors.

It has a 3" in with dual 61mm outs. We put a "Y" on the left out and brought the right out around behind the back bumper and the spare wheel well and then used another "Y". The sound is perfect, even the MB dealer in Brisbane was impressed and they are factory owned.

I have owned alot of cars and I would have to say the sound is about the sweetest I have heard in a long time. I mean you could spend weeks trying to get the sound right but this muffler is perfect. Driving around town, listening to the radio, talking perfect but when you give it stick its just like that CLK-DTM video with sound. The motor rev's so quickly now its a little frightening.

With the 19" x 265 rears P Zero's and the LSD AMG diff the esp light seldom comes on. Without the LSD & wider tyres the car is over powered and the ESP is forever taking the power off and because it goes so hard now you need Ceramis pads to pull it up.

It's a nice car.

Robertus amazing **** car. I like the exhaust and the rear wing. Pretty slick. I got the CLK55 AMG coupe model 06.
I like your alloy wheels. Are they original AMG wheels? I just noticed that the amg sign on the wheels are missing. I am trying also to get 19s wheels.
Best regards from Germany, Munich

Hi,

The wheels are 19" and come from Italy, a company makes these copy's and the only difference is they cannot put AMG on them, otherwisw you could not tell the difference.

I also thought they were AMG untill I saw the close up. Those are the closest of the 19inch lookalikes to the AMG style IV 18 inch in style and design. As someone else said, only the AMG badge is missing!

You have one fantastic looking car! Enjoy!!

Nice look!...I would like to do the same...Does the bumper cutout have a "lip" added to it or is it just a straight cutout and cleaned up. I was at a body shop today and they said that it would be very hard to add the inside turn after the cutout was made. Can you post a closeup of the cutout from ground level please.

Hi,

I will take some closeup photos of the exhaust cut out. Yes it has the return lip like on the other side. They used a piece of plastic and textured it up to look like the rest of the plastic and then plastic weilded it into place.

Unless you take off the rear bumper you cannot tell the difference the match is so close.

Make sure you do the bumper first then the exhaust so it positions correctly.
