AMG challenge

Finally did it. Was debating between adding something onto my car worth $1200 or join the program. For those who went, is it really worth $1200 (i.e. some serious teaching) or is it just "sample a couple of our AMG cars and take a souvenier hat" kinda event? Thanks!

Serious teaching? That depends on your skill level. FWIW, all the instructors that I had were pros.

There is a thread in Off Topic about more in-depth reviews.

I did the 2 day Porsche Driving school at Road Atlanta. I have prior track event experience so I was put in the advanced group. I got Hurley Haywood as my instructor. Was it worth it? YES!

Where can I find more info on the AMG Challenge for 2006?

Sounds very reasonable for the price. I have done Skip Barber before but i would love to attend just to kick out of those AMG's on a open track.

Very worth it ... IMHO

Went last year for first time (at California Speedway) and going there again this year for the basic Challange and maybe elsewhere later in the year for the Graduate event.

Two years ago I took the High Performance Driving class at Infinion (used to be Sears Point) in my own CLK55. That was fun too, but I like the variety of driving all the AMG cars in the Challenge.

Also it gets you next to top AMG officials and you may learn an intersting thing or two. For example the 030 high performance option package thing came to light a couple of days after I heard about it from the head of AMG North America at the Challenge. In the end what he said turned out to 100% correct too, verses all the wild exageration we saw in forums like this one in the 6 months before anything became official.
