As far as horsepower, my engine already produces over 1,050 HP so I don't think the plastic emblems would help. Maybe i should remove the little plastic emblems so I can set the record of worlds fastest mercedes...oh wait a minute, I already have that record.

How much power are your producing?
Putting a CL55 engine inside of a CL500 does NOT magically turn it into a CL55. It's not rocket science. It's common sense.
All you have is a CL500 with a engine swap.

To me, the model designation on a Mercedes is the class (cl,clk,e) and the number after the class representing the drivetrain. I just don't get how my car can be a cl500 without a 500 engine? If anything I guess it's a cl55 NON AMG, just with damn near all the same parts as the real amg?

We all know that you can pick up both the AMG and non AMG W215s for cheap now a days but there is a reason there was a $30K+ premium of the CL55 over the CL500 when it was new

i'm pretty sure the ecu is the same between the two models. it wasn't until 03 that the supercharger needed a controller to engage/disengage the clutch therefore requiring a different ecu
all 5 speed benz trannys that have the slap stick (tiptronic) shifting have the "speedshift" technology present in amg's....
hood is the same
side skirts are the same
rear bumper is the same
front bumper is the same
i haven't noticed any differences in the steering wheels? my cl500 came with the wood grain steering wheel (maybe it was an option?) i've seen cl55's that do not have the wood grain steering wheel...if this is the case i'd much rather my wood grain steering wheel
only difference in seats is the plastic logo which is prone to failure...i'd much rather have an amg logo sewn into the seat so it doesn't break off like everybody with the "special amg seats"
both amg and stock w215 comes with the ABC suspension....
i'm not running stock cl500 rims...i have 20 inch staggered set up.....
i could be mistaken in thinking the exhaust pipe diameter is the same, but i know for sure the headers are the same between the two models....i've bypassed my rear mufflers (the only other difference between amg and no amg being the muffler). UNLESS the amg has bigger piping, which is possible although i'm not sure
limited slip was an option on amg models (as far as i know), not all amg's come with the upgraded dif
the only difference i see between my car and the amg versions on your list is my brakes. i understand the amg brakes are better but my stock brembo calipers are nothing to be underestimated. although i do plan on upgrading to either the amg brakes or something better....
the thing is with the w215 platform is that it is the top of the line model, and stock comes with many of the same components as the amg model. main differences being engine, tranny and brakes (and later the forced induction)
i could see you guys point if i put an amg engine in a e320, but the cl is in a class of its own....
For the 2002 you're right there wasn't a huge difference between the 500 and 55 other than about 54hp and the AMG badge from what i've seen
All of the differences i listed were for the 03'-06' CL55 Kompressor
As for the instrument cluster on the CL55K - The speedo goes to 200mph and has a higher redline at 7K instead of 6K as well as the badging

do you know if the n/a 55 engine have the same redline as the supercharged 55? i want to get my ecu tuned so i can utilize the extra power because i think mine is still limited to the 500 redline
edit:and like i was trying to explain in my first post which i'm sure you all dismissed, i didn't do it to merely say i have an amg. i had valvetrain issues when someone sabotaged my 500 engine (jealousy is frequent when you're 21 with a w215), and instead of replacing it with another 500 engine, i decided to go amg instead!
I win, you all suck (except campbell because that is a nice ride)
