w208 CLK55 Maintenance

Hey guys,

I have been scouring the forums for the last few months, my CLK has almost 39,000 miles and here are the things i'm going to be doing in the next month:

New battery
New cabin filters
MAF sensor
Green Air Filters
Oil Change
Transmission Fluid Change
Euro AMG Springs & pads
New Brakes & Pads & Rotors
Tires - Michelin PS2s

Car runs perfectcly, is there anything else that you guys would recommend doing after this mileage? Also, I would like to get cross-drilled rotors, I have searched the forums but cannot find out what everyone recommends, some say stick with stock, others say frozenrotors, brembo. I don't want to compromise performance for looks but does anyone know if the braking distance is affected by cross-drilled rotors and what does everyone recommend?

Also, would you go Green Filters or K&N ?

If the car runs perfect I would not change the MAF. As for rotors . . . . . you may want to go to the Signal to Noise website, and click "the argument against cross drilled rotors".

No cross drilled rotors! The factory rotors that have vent holes are not drilled they are cast that way. Crossdrilling a rotor can and will weaken it. If you have ever seen a cross drilled rotor after hard track use there are stress cracks from the drill holes. Yes I have seen one fail at a track event.
BIG PROBLEM.

I have frozen rotors on my 911 track car. They are almost new after many events. Have gone thru 2 sets pf brake pads no wear on the rotors.

Your list seems fairly complete....I've got virtually the same mileage as you on my '02 and have also had the diff and tranny fluid replaced, brake flush with Ate Super Blue, new battery, coolant flush, and may need pads and rotors soon....

If you track the car, I'd suggest stock cryo-treated rotors with stock pads otherwise just use the OEM rotors for street use.

If you haven't had the coolant flushed in the past 2-3 years, you may consider adding that to your list along with a change in diff fluid. Some are very opinionated on aftermarket air filters....for me, stock is fine.

I'd like to get your feedback after getting the new rubber and euro-spec springs on....make sure to get a good alignment afterward.

My 02 CLK 55 has 37k miles runs like a champ. The coolant color is blue. I don't think MB makes blue color coolant but bought a MB bottle coolant which is yellow. Also the tranny fluid is like fresh engine oil color. My coworkers ML350 did a tranny fluid change last yr and its the same color. He has low miles and hardly ever drives it.

Geez!!! You guys have very low mileage on your cars. Did some of you buy your car pre-certified used? I bought mines used and it has 64k miles.

I had them installed at the dealer. No problems whatsoever.

Now....if they looked under there and saw a pink Kleemann suspension, they might raise an eyebrow.

I bought my CLK 55 about 2 weeks ago with low mileage I'm the 2nd owner. It also comes with a Guardian warranty to 2010 or 100k miles! I better start driving!

Rotors

I have a 2001 208 with 57000 miles on it I put drilled and slotted rotors on it with HP front pads Have never had a problem. Car looks like show room I am 2nd owner. I must say that it was hard to find rotors for this year car Also put them on back to. Don't know why not all new cars have them.

AMG10 Welcome newbie! I'm thinking about upgrading my stock rotors to frozen ones. (www.frozenrotors.com) cross drilled and slotted all-around with HPS pads(front that is) How much did you pay to have ur new rotors installed?

HI well hard to say it was a few years ago but around 200.$ something the front pads were 250.00 The ones I have had one for right front one for left same as back. I am sure the frozenrotors will be fine. I have had no problems

My Kleemann springs are kind of a pinkish color. Not the most muscular color for springs????? Not sure what Kleemann was thinking.

Cool deal Ctrider. If you don't mind sharing, how much did you pay for your rotors? I'm thinking about upgrading my rotors as well... all-around frozen.
