How long do your tires last ?
It would be very helpful if everyone posted the brand of tire with how many miles they get from a set.
EXAMPLE: Pzero rosso, miles: 30k front tires, 24k rears.
rears were shot and the fronts still had 2k-4k left.

2004 CLK55
Pirellei PZero Nero 19's
Replaced at 21,000 (60% wear on Front & 95% wear on Rear)
Have 10,000 on current set (25% wear on Front & 30% on Rear) - a lot less hard launches on this set

i drive my car pretty hard, it's never been to the track. but every now and then the 150+ foot burnout happens.
i get around 5,000 outta mine, treadwear rating 200-220.

With that in mind what is recommended?
Are we talking General UHP and/or Kumho Ecstas? Or the ultra cheap Nankang brand where they're so cheap that you can get new ones every 1-2 years? Maybe 1/3-1/4 of the cost of Michelin Pilot Sports.

I think that you will suffer some handling issues. I found that when I replaced my Contis and Toyo's on both of my 208s with PS2s...It was like driving a different car. If you want to burn them up and use them for a short time go with the cheaper ones but you will not be driving the same car.

Yes I have the Ecstas ASX for the CLK55. They are sticky and handle pretty well. Check the rating on them. I went with AS because when it gets a little cool the summers really have poor traction. Can't go wrong for $435 for 4. The rears might last 20k miles. But they are only $105 a pop. The Gen UHP are a little cheaper but have a shorter life. I think spending $200+ for 1 tire is foolish. When they only have a very short life. When I used to have my 350z it had GY F1s GSD3 summers good handling tire but traction really sucked even in 60degrees. They costed almost $200 a pop.

I had the ASX on my wife's SLK230 and I was surprised how quickly the rears went (10K) compared to their wear rating. The side walls were extremely soft but the SLK's handling was a dog's breakfast to begin with so I really couldn't tell if the tires adversely affected the SLK. I think I might try the Sumitomo's. Any experience with the General's anyone?
I am in the cheap tire camp as the CLK55 has a voracious appetite for rear tires.

Yes, tires are expensive, and if most of your driving is on the highway then there really is little ned for the high dollar, softer tires that wear quicker.
I don't think 15,000 miles plus or minus is that bad for mileage for those type of high performance tires. I have used the Kumho MX tires in the past as well as the Goodyear FI DSG3(?) and there was very little difference in performance, so I would buy another set of Kumhos without any problems.
The best thing to have is two sets of wheels and have a highway set of tires for everyday use and a set of sticky tires on the other set for bombing through the twisty roads.

An afternoon on the skid pad will toast your tires quickly. I use a couple different sets of tires depending on the activity.

a quarter mile at a time
Michelin Pilot Primacy (OEM)
225/45/17 F
245/40/17 R
- Put about 22K miles on these, didn't like them so much. Replaced them early due to a screw in one of them, and I ended up getting 19" wheels. Could have put 5K more on the tires.
Nitto NT555
235/35/19 F
265/30/19 R
- I've had these now for about 23K miles now. Rears are down to the wear bars, fronts still have slightly more tread on them. Decent tire, I didn't have any major faults with them.
I need new tires again, I'm considering the new PZero's (expensive!) or Toyo T1R's. I don't have many inexpensive tire options with my 19"s.

goodyear eagle and conti contacts2 - 265/30/19 (rears)
Im not an aggressive driver and they never lasted longer than 14k miles, but I mostly do city driving.
My fronts probably last for three times the life of my rears.
