I recently had my transmission rebuilt by Southern Hotrod. So far i have logged about 200 miles on it with out any problems at all. It shifts awesome, under normal driving it shifts quik and positive but not harsh but when you go wide open throttle OMG it shifts very hard when it goes into second gear I see the little yellow triangle flashing![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)
Needless to say im very pleased with the trans and the customer service![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
I would Just like to say thank you Eddie & Bill for a great product![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

How much of your 12.54 ET do you attribute to your trans mods? That seemed like a pretty strong N/A time for only adding headers. What other mods does your car currently have? I've seen your NOS fogger pics so that car is going to be a beast when you get it dialed in on spray.

Thanks Black and Andy!!!
Our price is $4,899.00 (same price as the Chrysler guys pay NO MB TAX...LOL)
I have redesigned the driving clutch packs and use proprietary Kevlar clutches as the stock paper clutches will not hold up to extreme high hp (actually high torque).
Redesigned one of the problematic sprags also.
The amount of welding and machining as well as valve body mods to get these to hold up and shift properly is amazing.
A dealer would take one of these High Torque Capacity NAG1's apart and just say what the Hell is this?
These are currently being used in the fastest Chrysler LX's, Jeep SRT8's.
Some of these guys are pushing 1,000 ft lbs ++ through our transmissions.
All this being stated....we find the 722.6 NAG1 as a VERY good tranny for stock and lightly modded applications.
My '97 500SL (unmodified) still runs and shifts perfectly.
It is all a function of "How much power, applied how often"?
The 1st sign of your NAG1 failing will be a slooooow 1-2 shift and then a sloooow 2-3 shift. Serious problem, go VERY easy on it from there.
I was a Daimler Mechanical Engineer fro 10 years, I DO know how the Engineers think.
Call Eddie at Southern Hotrod 504 712-5512 or myself at 704 451-6332 we are always available for you.
Oh...as you can see by the large number of Chrysler guys running our NAG1's we did test them out fully before we even considered becoming site vendors here.
Couple of links for you to check us out:

The one that we have had most success with is a ProTorque lock-up converter.
Eddie (2,800 stall) and I (2,600 stall) both have them on our vehicles as well as many of our customers rides.
Some of the high performance converters (won't mention brand here) turned out to be junk.
Not sure that this is the ultimate converter, although, some of our customers that are pushing 1,000 ft. lbs. rear wheel are also having great success with the ProTorque. I believe they are guaranteed for 2 years and do offer a re-stall if needed.
I just tried the links above....yep, the darn things don't work.
I'll try another way.

While surfing away on the above forums...check our thread, posts etc. to get an idea of our reputation.
Heck....PM some of our customers there!![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Thanks for the info! I won't mention converter brands but my pink converter that started with a P and second letter was I is horrible in my Cobra. It was a triple disk lock-up and I had better luck with a stock Mach 1 converter. Go figure, $180 bucks stock versus $1,200 for supposedly good one.
I'll go check the links!

The local dealer called me in when a customer was installing one of our trannys and he had a P*.
The Tech showed me how much rust was in the NEW converter and would not install it!
P* sent a new replacement converter SAME THING.....
Yeah, triple disc, quadruple disc, whatever.....avoid those!
Actually, the stock MB ARE better than the P*.
P* has such a nice web site....goes to show you where their talent is.LOL

How much can a stock trans handle? Anyone know? ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Edit: never mind, found this...
W = hydraulic torque converter
5 = five forward speeds
A = automatic transmission
580 = maximum input torque capacity in newton/meters
580 newton meters = 427.786 ft/lbs
So will a W5A900 (W211 E55) or W5A1000 (V12TT cars) bolt up and work on our cars?

The High Torque Capacity transmission you have ordered is currently holding up to one of our customers that dynoed at over 1,000 rwhp &
1,100 rw ft. lbs torque.
He (in a big Chrysler magnum) just ran 183 mph in the Texas mile last weekend...NO PROBLEMS.
BTW...I am in Charlotte now and have your broken axle....I'll let you know.

Yes the W5A900/1000 will bolt up. They are pretty rare.

Cool, I heard the W5A900 will bolt up but not the 1000. Anyways, I found a W5A900 for a good deal but if everything goes according to plan the trans will be out on its way to you monday for the build. Should be done in time for MIR or I will cry ![Stick Out Tongue](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)

The W5A900 series was/is used ONLY behind the V-12's....like the 65 series....
The W5A900 trannys will be stamped #722648 or #722649 on the side.
Your High Torque Capacity NAG1 will be shipped back to you within 2 days of Eddie receiving yours.
He has all the parts in stock as I keep him supplied with enough parts to do 6 trannys.
The axle.....well it actually looks pretty puny next to the Chrysler SRT or the rear axle that is again used behind the V-12's (a large diameter "splined" axle NOT a bolt on axle).
I should know what direction to take on the axle late Monday hopefully.
In a perfect world, the way to go would be bolt in a complete rear diff with axles and driveshaft from a V-12 or an SRT8 LX.
Lets see what happens.

Dredging up an old thread about southern hot rods.
I see a trans build/tq convertor in my future after the blower install.
Just found this:
http://www.allusasupercenter.com/SOU...nag1-htcr2.htm
Does anyone have a contact email/phone for Southernhotrod for these trans upgrades?
