Question New E-Class Coupé - no more CLKs?!?

Mercedes-Benz At The Geneva Motor Show: The New Mercedes E-Class Coupé

"Kicking things off, a second look at the brand-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe (formerly the Mercedes CLK-Class)"

"formerly the Mercedes CLK-Class"?!? WTF?

yeah so is it just a renaming? i hope so, cuz the clk has always been an e class couple, not a c class coupe

the clk has been a c class coupe, headlights (actually entire front), interior, size of car, all C class.

E class coupe will be based on the e class, more along the 6 series, and A5 size.

i don t think so because remember the w210 version of the clk , it was completely taken from the w210 sedan

only the w211 version is from the c class but it still supposed to represent the e class

the actual c class couple is the one that is labeled that, its those ****tly little hatch back small cars

So no one knows why EMercedes calls it "formerly" or whether this means the CLK is going away, replaced by this new E-class coupé?

CLS 55 AMG - one of the last off the AMG line
From what I can see on the MB website the cars differ - but mercedes even calls the CLK a C-class coupe in its technical illustrations page. (check out http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/cont...data.0002.html ) where the image is clearly a CLK and they label it as C-class coupe.

When I think of a C class coupe - I think of a CLC coupe - which looks nothing like the CLK - especially in side profile - and is much shorter. That to me is the spirit of a c class coupe. I think thats why MB is changing the name - its to differentiate the CLC from the CLK. We as owners of CLK have always known the CLK is bigger - (in AMG guise not available in CLC) more powerful, and looks more luxurious. I think they are making changes, but it will evolve the CLK - and not transform it - and at the same time to up-class the car as an e- will make a very clear differentiation in their offerings:
CLC- base 4 seat 2 door Coupe - Ecoupe - the mid level 4 seat 2 door - CL - high end 4 seat 2 door (anyone want to bet they will rename the CL )
In my view I dont care what actual chasis they are based on (C E or S) - the current CLK has an extended chasis to the C class anyway - so its not as if we could call it a standard chasis.

The dimensions:
CLK 63 AMG - 4652 MM length - 2715 wheelbase - height 1400
C class saloon (sedan) 4581mm (7 cm shorter) - 2760 (4.5cm longer)
CLC Coupe - 4448mm length (204mm - almost 9 inches shorter) - wheelbase (2715 - same as CLK63)

It's going to be called an e class coupe, because it will be an E CLASS coupe. Nothing to do with CLK, forgetaboutit, clk done no more. The CLK was based on the c class, the e coupe is based on e class saloon.

w208 clk was designed after the w210
the w209 was designed after the w203
i guess their taking it back to the 98-2002 CLK's- being designed off E-Class
