About to pull a trigger on a CLK63 vert

So I been working on a deal and the dealer has just given me their final price of 48,750.

The car has 8000 miles on it and comes with both nav and xenon.

Is this good enough?

All things considered, if I remember correctly those were around $90k new. So with only 8k miles and factory warranty until 3/2012, I think that is a respectable deal. I hope you are buying it CPO'd though.

Unfortunately, this is not a CPO unit and the dealer seems to have gotten the car from an auction (not an MB dealer but a local sell-anything-everything kinda dealer).

Kinna a big purchase on those grounds... 1 dealers hands to another dealers to yours?? Such low miles?? sounds too good to be true. I get the feeling that it sat on the other lot for a reason and now the "mercedes lot" is being used to "smoosh" the deal. Just a thought

2007 CLK63 Cab
I just bought an CLK63 Cab 07 with 17k miles for $46k with an aftermarket extended warranty included. I have a nav but no zenon. Your price would be a great deal if it was a CPO MBZ warranty. Without the warranty you should be closer to a $44k purchase price plus what ever the Zenon option cost.

2007 CLK63AMG CABROILET
Seems to be a very good price to me with Nav, Zenon, good in-service date, and only 8,000 miles. Also, FYI there is not a glut of CLK63's Cabroilets around. Someone posted the number of 2007 CLK63's imported in the USA on this website somewhere. I believe the total number imported for 2007 was around 145-160. Regardless of the exact number, there were not many imported.

If you have a VIN, I'd be glad to take a quick look at it for you.

If they want to get rid of the car bad enough make then throw in some sort of warranty.

Ands its Xenons not Zenons.

2007 AMG CLK63
Spent 6 months looking for mine - prices ranged from 39k (lots of miles, no options) up to upper 40's. 2007 CPOs tend to sell in the 44 to 47 range with 12 - 20k miles, but come with the extra year of MB warrenty. I did not see a lot of difference if it had nav, parktronics or xenon as extras (so you might as well find one with them since the price is about the same). Right now is the sweat spot for the CLK63s. They are coming off the 3 year leases, so there are more than usual around, most with low mileage Per the AMG private lounge posted production numbers, 143 CLK63 convertibles were imported to the US in 2007 and 100 in 2008 so this is a rare car in the US. I would pay more attention to the condition it is in - get a carfax report, but more importantly, have an independent shop verify there is no car damage - carfax is not perfect. I've had mine for about 3 months now. Must say that I do not regret the purchase. If it is extra clean and is the color and has the options you want, you may be willing to pay the extra price due to the low mileage, but if you are like me, the low mileage will soon be a thing of the past. This car is too much fun to let it sit in the garage wasting away. Good luck.

Wow, it sold for $39,900, nice unique colour and top as well. Did Mercedes offer 4 yr leases as well?

Seems to be some action on ebay motors for these cars, but I would only purchase if I could go see the car first. Too many horror stories, but certainly some really good ones as well (had a friend steal a mid 80s porsche 911 off ebay). Mercedes web site also has a search function for pre-owned CPO cars that is nationwide and works pretty good as another option.

Contact your local MBCA and ask. Their enthusiastic members make better owners than common hacks. Better owners sell better used cars. Also, some MBCA officers / members have relationships with specific dealers. That's code for "somebody has to pay retail, but *this guy* gets a deal".

Thanks but dare I mention that I'm deciding between a 2007 CLK63 Cabriolet or a 2006 Porsche 911 C4S Cabriolet? I plan on keeping my 2002 CLK55 Cabriolet in either case, but I'm waiting for the right car out of those 2 top pop up.

With the CLK 63, I'd have to get quad exhaust work done and seriously look at "beefing" up the rear fenders like the Black Series, which probably means rear bumper as well. I have not seen any modified CLK63's for sale - wonder why. The stock exhaust with the one side looks unfinished and lazy on the part of MB. That has always pissed me off even on my CLK55.

On the C4S, I'd look at cutting out the rear fenders to add in air intake inserts like on the Turbo model and more than likely performance upgrades if I felt that it needed it.

I'm a little concerned that the C4S may be a bit under powered compared to the CLk63. Can't spring for the Turbo model right now as the Girlfriend would freak out. What is the Porsche Forum Web site equivalent to this one? Any other thoughts, suggestions? Thanks.

There are a lot of P-car forums. Rennlist is big. Pelican is good too. You may want to do a fair amount of research on the M96. You may also want to drive a 9A1. You may be very surprised.

Thanks Marcus, will look into those things. Looks like I'm leaning back towards the CLK63 Cab until the 07/08 Turbo Porsche comes down around the $50K range (in 2-3 years???). That should hold me over for at least 2 yrs.

I bought mine last year from the original owner. It had around 18k for miles and was perfect. He had checked all the options when he ordered it and the sticker was $98k.

I have owned lots of performance and luxury vehicles but none have brought the smiles to my face like this one gives me. The power is truly amazing with the huge torque the 6.3 develops and it's ride is firm without being harsh. I looked at several performance roadsters including an M3, 911 and a BMW 650. One of the important criteria I was hoping to get was a usable back seat because I have two little ones as well as wanted the ability to use it if going out with another couple. I researched them all and there is no other performance convertible made which has a usable bag seat other than a CLK63. In fact I think I read that the CLK63 was the fastest 4 seat convertible in the world.

I seriously looked at a 911 and even took the wife for a ride in one but when I found my AMG, it was a no brainer.

I don't think the price is off for an 8k car if it's in great condition.

Good luck with your choice!

David

??? By whose definition? One of the most exclusive roadsters made. I have never to date run into another in Minneapolis and I live in a city of 3 million in the two years I have owned mine so I think that makes it pretty rare.

Never clocked mine but read a review where they ran 4.3 in 0-60. Don't know what an E55 will run but I doubt it's faster.
