THE blower thread
On another note.... I just got to test drive a Black Series CLK at my local benz dealership..... it was cool to A/B it with my wifes C63 (w/pp) and my blown CLK55-K...... and here's a few observations in my 20 min drive:
1. Can you daily drive a BS?.....YES. I had the wrong impression that the BS would be too rough for dd status... I was wrong. It actually rides better than my wifes 09C63 with the Perf Pkg. I could totally dd this car.
2. Power - seat o pants.... felt same as the C63 and quite a bit slower than my clk55K.
3. COOL FACTOR - it was everything I dreamed of in person and under my control regarding all the wow stuff....... it has been and is even more my dream car. The total pkg or performance and exclusiveness.
When faced with the specter of trading in my recently kleemanized CLK55 for this $84K beast..... I'll probably just keep playing with my kleemanized clk with coil overs and bigger brakes, but it sure is fun to dream.
Had I NOT bought my clk55..... I'd be all over this.
Cheers.
im in love with my car and im not trading it in for any thing else i'll just eep playing around with it :P
btw have u done anything to ur transmission either ur TCU or ur torque converter?
i took my car to the drag couple of weeks back and i didnt like the way it was shifting
PTE told me to watch out for the shift point being too close to the rev limiter.... if this happens you get funny things happening at shift points. He had to lower his shift point below rev limit to avoid this issue. I'm guessing the fact that the car rev's soooo fast now can affect the stock computer settings.
Another cause could be a trans that is going out... but mine was fine before the blower install.

Trust me, I'm no internet keyboard fanboy.... I love the BS. I was just not impressed with my 20 min drive. I'll have some track times when I get my car back. I spent 1 w/e with it since I got all the work done: blower, p/p heads, cams, smaller pulley, exh, lsd, tune... etc.....
Heck my wifes stock C63 was stronger than this car per my 20 min drive.
I was expecting to be blown away with throttle response and needing traction control. Perhaps it's the extra wgt or after 20K miles in need of a tune up?
Please no flames... I love the BS... there is no substitute.
BS 11 Sec car stock? really.... I always thought low 12's with good driver.....

And I'm sure it's pluses would come out on a proper race track>
I'm hoping to lay down some mid 11's with good tires.... but we'll see. I only have 1.5 days of seat time since all the mods in 45 deg F weather..... and it was a BEAST.. stronger than any car I've owned.....
Dep on the cond of the trans, I may have a trans R&R before some real track time... for more clutch packs, upgraded servo's.... etc.... (money pit)>
will be there this summer and as the cars are documented to run in the 11's out of the box I am looking for low to mid 10's.

I don't know if it needed an alignment or if the front camber was off... but it was real twitchy on the highway wanting to follow whatever grooves I rode over.... reminded me of my old autocross fox stang with cast/camb plates and an agressive alignment.
I bought another used car from them as cpo and I was NOT impressed. Be sure to have another shop inspect the car.... perhaps greenway MB will inspect the car for you?
I was referring to your CLK.

I've heard of others having this issue as well.... some resolved it with dropping the shift points a couple hundred below the rev lim...... the car runs up to the rev lim much faster now... and I've heard of others having to modify the TCU.... so we'll see how it goes.
The car only has 23-25k miles.... so I doubt the trans is hurt..... all those miles where with no boost....
I'm going to see about having this car shipped to Kleemann USA to get resolved.
I'll call Kleemann USA Monday.
If that does not work... then car goes on a transporter to CO.
Cory is super helpful, and ready to help.
If this was a fox mustang, or LS1 I'd do the work myself..... but I just had to modify a star-car which is like a black box when it comes to tuning.
I'm just glad I've got Kleemann USA on board now. Hope to drive this black-hole-money-time soaker down the 1/4 soon.
I've yet to log any quality seat time, and I'm getting anxious.
I'll just have to pull up a PTE CLK-K vid to pass the time.
This has been a challenging 2 years for fun-projects for me..... CLK-K challenges and I've been building a jetski with a large sitdown motor stuffed into it for racing.... and it's been fighting me the whole way. I start to see why some people just buy the fastest thing they can afford NEW and add gas and go

Car is going on a transporter to Kleemann USA.
It's time to get this to the Kleemann mechanics/tuners.
I'll have Klee go through this install top-bottom, and retune the car, and dyno it so I know what I've got.
Time to get this project back on track.
