Remove/replace intake manifold
I am attempting to replace my intake manifold with a ported and polished mani this weekend.
Has anyone removed their manifold? Any tips/tricks or special tools/materials I need?
DIY link? I fid my WIS to be less than user friendly. Thanks!!
you will need 10mm ,8mm,sockets this is mane tool that you need

i deed take mine of their is nothing to worry the only thing you need to do is cut some wires i believe it is a/c cluthch wire so just cut that wire than reconnect nothing special or you can spend about 1-3 hours unbolting some parts to take them out
so
first you need to do is take that metal pipe of in the back of manifold (two 8mm bolts on one end and the other end is a big nut )(twist that pipe and pool it out)
than take that air motor in the front (one 8mm bolt)
than unplug all weiring and take all the clamps of your injectors
unbolt fuel rail 4 bolts move it to the side with weiring
than unbolt your intake manifold i think 10 bolts and it will be out
so it is not that hard when you start doing you will figure it out have fun
i may take some pics tomorrow for you
What do you mean by "the usual back and forth bolt removal?" How should I handle the removal of the old bolts and the install of the new bolts?

I am actually going to tackle this in a few days with my 2001 CLK 320 Cabriolet. Is there any real difference between the w209 and my w208?
I read the WIS and it says to release the pressure off the fuel rail with a special MB tool; is there another way without buying the tool. Is it necessary? I did purchase the alloy pegs from my local dealer for lining up the new Intake manifold and the gaskets. It was worth the $50.
DaGuitarist, Did you ever end up doing it yourself? Any tips?
All the best guys.
