You can see the butterfly valves in the picture at the beginning of this thread https://mbworld.org/forums/clk55-amg...ook-right.html
What do you think of removing the runners in the middle of the manifold?

Thanks Marcus, As usual you have enlightening reading. A real eye opener. I certainly didn't know about the 8 valves in the intake manifold which remain closed until around 3700 rpm. Do you think the later and upgraded Motronic ME 2.8 ECU could be retrofitted to the C43 to improve performance?

Just so I don’t completely hijack the thread, the intake manifold for the C43, CLK430, CLK500, and CLK55 (all years) show the same part number in the EPC - 1131400301.
DOHC, did you buy a 63 intake (later year)? A 55K intake/blower? Or?

IIRC the intake was advertised as a clk500/ml500 intake but I need to check again. As far as it's use to me: 1 will be a plethora of spare parts and 2 I can have the intake and tb ported and gasket matched while still being able to drive my car. Other than that the magnesium intake should be lighter and dissipate heat better than an aluminum one.
While I do have an e55 amg setup in the works. It will be some time before the install happens. Little extra info, I'm also using the 05 heads off the e55 setup for the same purpose to be ported and gasket matched to that intake. I will however swap the clk55 cams, lifters and valve springs to the e55 heads tho. Also plan on getting a set of those box headers to be ported on the inlet and gasket matched to those e55 heads. All 4 of those parts will be bolted on as an induction package as I call it.

The ME 2.0 TB for a 1999/2000 E55 is part number 1131410025. That’s the same part used on a 1999/2000 CLK430 – and the early CLK430 definitely uses a 69mm TB.
Here’s the MB of Annapolis parts lookup website. Just plug in the part numbers and look at the vehicles that they cross reference to. BTW, note the price difference - the early 025 part is over $1K more.
