CLK55 2003 : retrofit 55AMG button to C63 AMG paddle shifter on steering wheel
I own a CLK55 form 2003 with this awesome button on steering wheels to change gear.
So I decide to change for the C63 ones, but it was not plug and play

The ugly buttons
The new paddle shifters

Needded :
- AMG C63 paddles : A1712670046 : about 130€
We starp by the l'airbag

Then the steering wheel

The old buttons :

(DOWN)

(UP)

The connectors are different. On my button blue wires are connected between from each button and the other wire is on a single connector for the 2 button.
On the new paddle there is a connector for each with 2 wire.
The impedence is not the same between bbuttons and paddles.
It is not compatible

Down :

UP:

There is only one way : put the old electronic in the new paddles

and as mentioned reuse the wiring from the old CLK wheel. The connectors (for the up and down shift), are obviously different & need to be modified, but I am told the airbag connectors for the old CLK55 AMG 03 W209 should fit up with the C63 wheel. Can anyone please confirm the CLK airbag would just connect in, by reusing the wiring of my old wheel and replugging it into the airbag connectors of the C63 wheel?
If the answer to my question is 'yes', than why aren't more of you doing this mod? Its just a bit of Dremel and soldering work to modify the connectors! Who has bought the AGE SYTLING Wheel?
My point being, if your going to modify the shift buttons, you might as well change to a better wheel? Thoughts please?
Im not entirely sure how to read your reply, but if you mean why would you change a wheel if its the same dimensions as the old, then my answer is as per above. Of course I would like a Black Series Wheel, but I cant really justify this.
If your reply gives reinforcement to the fact the AGE styling wheel appears to have the same internals electronics than thats great, infact that's exactly the reasurance I was after

For the electronic compatibility, I can't say, sorry
