The back tires on my new CLK55 (new to me) are "Vertically wacked" as I like to say and I think it's because someone lowered it and didn't align it.
The camber adjustment should take care of it but my concern it that the tires might rub when it's aligned.
It has 19" Lorinser LM5 staggered rims and Invo Nitto P265/30 ZR19 tires and they pretty much fill the wheel well.
My question is : does the top of the wheel move outward when the tires are brought vertical from a squatting type of stance?
Concerning the possible lowering, The local MB dealer service tech said he doesn't think it was lowered because it has stock springs and the spring cousions have 2 tabs (?) on them and that's correct for the height.
Which brings up another question. I measure the height by comparing the wheel centers to the body lines- in most pictures of a 2001 CLK55 they are almost exactly even with the top of the rocker panels. Mine are 1.5 inches above that line. Could this be from age-sagging or the wrong offset rims?

I'd say sagging... A non-lowered car with 19s shouldn't produce any negative camber? At least mine didn't.

The 2 Gray Tabs are paint dots / bands on the rear coil springs. I believe these paint bands indicate spring sizing . This spring is also used on a 2001 E 320 4 matic wagon. There are also spring Cups / Pads. that come in different thinkness
to help set the ride height. I have found broken springs more times than I'm please to know about. and they usually broke down inside the cup area, where they are very hard to see.

I have also found the stock camber bar bushings badly worn. So I have used P-1 Performance Adjustable Camber bars . Go the the above listed Thread , Look at post #31. If you need a good indy shop let me know. There is one in West Palm Beach

Wasted- I agree.
discoduck- That's what I thought although if the offset was too far out it may make it squat a little.
PTE- Thanks , that great info. The MB tech said he thought the spring and spring cups were stock size. He was doing the A service so he may not be an authority on it.
Bit if the spring cups were broken where you cant see them, that could also be the problem. I will have to look at the ware on the camber bar bushings also.
I was thinking of offering a trade for a back to stock switch to anyone interested in the parts but I'll check those things out first.

One thing not addressed is weather the top of the tires will move outward with an alignment. I'm sure they would with a camber kit.
So at that point my tires would rub at the height they are at now.
I'd need a smaller offset spacer. And then, would the tires rub inside?
I think going to stock height would be best for me.
What do you all think?

There is no camber adjustment if im correct. I have a 208 as well but a 430. I lowered it and had the same camber. Recently purchased Ghost Riders kit and corrected the camber to spec. It will adjust the upper part of the wheel. Some kits adjust the lower but his kit is an upper arm adjustment.

+1. Rear is non-adjustable camber from the factory and requires camber arms. So if it was lowered and the arms weren't replaced, it will squat with a negative camber and ruin your tires rather quickly.Originally Posted by jkiddd33

We always recommend ghosts work for these adjustable camber arms. Others are around on eBay etc. I have a set I purchased before ghost released his and they do the trick also.
Thanks for the replies guys, I think I'm going to raise it back up little. I sure love this car, My car before last was a 1969 Dodge Super bee with a non original warmed up 440. This does all it did for me and more, but with finesse and style. I met a MB service rep the other day and when I told him what I had he said when they first came out they used to call them "an executive go-cart".
