Fatz:

My ex setup:

Kleemann headers.
No prim cats
300 cell secondary cats
3" 20" long low restriction resonator
Stock single exhaust past rear diff
Eissenmann race 2005 dual ex rear muffs.
Pipe is y piped past rear diff just like the c55 or 05 clk55 w dual ex.

No drone to speak of but I would like to take noise down a few db's and just keep the deep grumble.

2.29.14 Update - Tune up

Just gave the Kleemann CLK55 some loving:

Oil Change
Filter
Air Filters
New Gator Back Belt
topped off the blower intercooler system wtih coolant.
** Ordered a bmw power steering res so I can sep the cooling system from the i/c system.
Blower feels nice and tight when spin by hand.
Saw my power steering res is leaking again... put it on the list.

**QUESTION for you blower guys...... my i/c system water pump is making an occasional groan noise....... that is why I topped off the water in the i/c system.... I thought it was cavitating.... but water was at proper level.

Do these intercooler pumps give off some funny noises before they decide to die?

THX.

Icpump

Anyone know what pump comes with the kleemann blower kit? I'm guessing Bosch 010?

Johnson CM90. They are pricey. I hear good things about the Meziere pumps too

I believe it's a Johnson C090. When my C090 started to leak, I replaced it with a CM90. No problems to report after 5000 miles.

Here is a link to some pics.

Also note my 30k mile bad motor mounts did not have any obvious visual signs of trouble.

What I did notice
1 very rough idle and ride. It seems the mms are a big part of nvh control on these cars.
2. I did the power brake in drive and reverse to watch for engine movement with hood up. No big movement.
3. I did notice the engine had settled about a quarter inch down with bad mm's. I've got a small rub spot on fw from mass air meter to gage this.

Side notes::: my dealer would not install parts I supplied.
Also found it strange my mms were shot after the cup holder svc at the dealer.... Coincidence. Or backlot power brake fest? Automotive mystery

The bearing in the water pump will start to go bad and wine. Mine started wining to the point that the sound was noticeable inside the car with the windows closed. I replaced the whole pump because I was concerned that the pump would start to leak.

I've noticed a wine in our C55 too and I'll probably have to do that one next.

The job isn't too bad, but you'll have to remove the alternator and there are a lot of bolts. I have a few pictures from when I did the job on my C32 if you need them.

Smile drive

In fact I wondered about that, and it is very good for the knowledge! I suppose that I would lead a piece of news in a Maximum month if my order is delivered in time to set off then in the period of heat at the spring end & also in early summer

Cool car...love it. But I'll be the one who'll say it cuz we're all thinking it. What's with the amber side marker lights? All that cool deserves an upgrade on those corners.

Cool valve covers. Also, yes clear or smoked on the corners. The amber is a little...off on a modded car.

Popo

Took a drive to the parts store in the clk, and noticed a motorcycle police man really checking my car out at the intersection,

I ease out carefully to keep it under the radar. Moto man follows me for a mike then pills up next to me at stop sign and signals to roll down window.....

I'm thinking I was not speeding or anything.....

He looks at me pulls off his glasses and says "what did the paint job cost ya?"

Pretty funny.

Not sure if he was profiling or genuinely interested.

10.4.14 Update -

At 54,000 Miles, I took the clk55-Kleemann on a 1000 mile roadtrip to visit Cory @ Klee USA, get the car inspected top-to-bottom, redyno, align after lowering, install some other parts, and enjoy a nice long road trip.

I'm happy to say the car performed flawlessly on the 2000 mile journey.
Avg 21mpg, Avg MPH 70.
No tickets... only a warning from DPS in Waco....... bumper to bumper traffic...... I'm following a jeep and hybrid going 72 in a 65...... he pulls the merc over ....... says nice car, what mods do I have...... then sends me on my way....... dude looked about 16 yrs old. Nice kid.

This road trip made me appreciate this car in a totally new way....... I normally daily drive in bumper to bumper traffic...... OR do the usual stop-light romp. This car really shines on a long 70-90mph journey through mountain passes.

Cory installed my rear adj control arms..... so I don't get the inner tire wear. They did not need the crash bolts to align the front after lowering. The road/handled soo much better after the alignment after lowering.
Installed my new red powder coated shardul valve covers, along with SS needswings hardware.
Big thanks to Cory and Shardul for the parts and great service.
The car Dyno's w/i 1% of the dyno numbers after Klee first did my mods 3 yrs ago, and 30k miles ago, so I'm happy the car is healthy. BTW - eissenman dual muff setup.... no gains...... as you all know. Cat back yeilds no gains on these cars.

Enjoy the pics:

Cm... Stock gears tq conv. I plan on hitting 1/4 mile in 2 weeks. Hoping for high 11's but we'll see.

I will only do the tq conv if when trans needs rebuild.... And so far this thing is a tank.

Benz... Yeah Cory is very helpful and goes extra mike. He hauled me back forth to rental car place, which a big help,

91.... Yeah kind of goofy. Pretty sure he profiling car type and wanted excuse to look further into driver. I liken it to the paperwork stops in west Africa, when spent some time there in early 90's.
