Need Kleemann SC Intercooler Replacement
I have sprung 2 core leaks in my Kleemann intercooler (see pic) and now I need a replacement. I could pay $500 for another Kleemann intercooler; but if I do, it would be my THIRD Kleemann intercooler I have purchased (not making the same mistake again).
I would like to purchase a different intercooler now but I have no idea how to make an educated decision on intercoolers (I don't know any specs), since I have never purchased an intercooler separately.
I'm hoping one of my experienced Kleemann SC Brothers can give me some tips, advise, or Intercooler recommendations.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

In doing research, it looks like the Kleemann Heat Exchanger (I mislabeled it as an intercooler) is similar in design and shape as the C32/E55 Heat Exchanger. I'm going to make a purchase soon and will report back when everything is tested.

Man that sucks...... Sorry you have this trouble.
Cory advised the klee plate style he is very efficient. Perhaps more so than aftermarket versions.
I'm sure there is a good a/m solution out there with all the roots/whipple/twinscrew/eaton blown v8's out there..... cobra, shelby, covette, etc.......

Don't forget the inlet and outlet are bigger on the Kleemann than the E55. You will have to use a reducer or cut the existing inlet and outlet off and weld new ones on

Damn Carlos, that sucks man. How many miles did you get on the replacement heat exchanger before it failed?

I wonder if your H/E installation is rubbing on something?
Are you running water/antifreeze? Water only can be corrosive.
Is blower cooling isolated from engine cooling system?
You might be able to have your klee h/e repaired by a competent rad repair shop? They might be able to det cause of failure.

Unfortunately for me, I need a 1" barbed hose fitting (Like Kleemann's H/E) and Eurocharged Unit has a welded 3/4" fitting.

I was running antifreeze and my Blower's cooling was blessed at Kleemann HQ by Reverend Cory.

I found that aftermarket E55/C32 H/E is exactly what we need for replacing the Kleemann Units. I'm going with FTP unit (see below) since I can change out the hose fitting barbs (they are not welded) to the 1" barb I need.

I'm also going to pickup the FTP Oil Separator while I'm at it.

As always, I will document my install and report back my results! This will be valuable information for my Kleemann SC Brothers!

Be careful how you route the catch can. I developed a drip from my rear main after install catch can with very long 6' and 4' runs of 1/2" hose that was ever so slightly pinched in places....... Trying to blow through the system yielded surprisingly high restriction which I suspect causedthe temp blow by.......... Removed catch can and no drip at rear main. Perhaps there's a way to mount catch can right next to valve cover and run stiff wall 3/4" hose?
My catch can did not have real amt of oil after 10k miles...... Just about a 1/8" of residue. I'm back to stock now. Gl.

I might even re-dyno to see if there was anything gained.

I have the major components ordered, now my next step is figuring out how to properly fill and bleed the Heat Exchanger system.
Does anybody know how to bleed the Heat Exchanger System? Any DIY threads or how to's?

Jack up the passenger rear of the car. Disconnect the hose on the back left of the SC. Pour water/antifreeze in until you see liquid coming out the port you took the hose off of. Squeeze the hose to get rid of as many bubbles as you can. Reconnect hose. Drive around and repeat if desired
