WTF Dipstick?! Is there a dipstick available?
Dealer says there is no dipstick available for purchase. Additionally, he says the oil level sensor goes bad "all the time". Greaaaat....
Oil level read as ok after I changed the oil, but then the next day it showed high. Drained a little out. Showed ok, then later (like, 250 miles later) read as high. Rinse, repeat about 5 times. Finally I drained a good half quart+ out. Read as ok. Now it's showing as high again, two days later.
I don't trust the thing.
Is there a dipstick available? How can I be sure the oil level is okay if the sensor goes bad? Is it a difficult part to replace?

Then i had a check engine light,so i did a short scan on Star and i had a stored code P2076-001 : B40,Oil sensor, oiler level, temperature and quality, max oil temp exceeded P1999, i cleared all the faults and then the next day check engine light again with same fault, oil sensor.
i Didnt have time to change it because i had to travel, but its very easy to change it,when its the right time to change the oil,u can do both together.
You have to remove the lower engine compartment paneling to reach the oil sensor.

I found the posts describing the dyno mode and how you can see the actual oil level. It showed 9.0L of oil in it. But it's odd that it took 250+ miles to indicate it was over if it was able to tell me exactly how much was in there.
I'd just really prefer a dipstick hahahaha

I drained a bit more and now it's showing 8.5L in the dyno display. I guess it held on to a quart or so when I was draining it.
I'd really like a dipstick. Esp since the guy at the dealer said the sensors fail "all the time."

Oil expands when hot. If the sump is full when cold, it will definitely be overfull when the oil hits 212 degrees.
It is a shame the dipstick was dropped. The early cars had them, although I rarely use mine. As for the sensors going out all the time, the dealer is giving you their perspective. They see a certain number of cars per week. Of that number, some percentage of cars need an oil level sensor. On an individual owner basis, the perspective may differ. Many long term owners have never replaced one.

That's why I was surprised it didn't read that the oil was high when I was blaring around the track, but a quick pop to the shops DID trigger it 150 miles later. I don't trust the thing, and I'm hoping I can find a mechanical backup.

You might have to go back to a 2002 upper oil pan for the dipstick tube which is a big $ labor job to install if you dont service your own veichles. (check engine family)
Marcus is right about the sensor, seldom fails and I rarely use the dipstick as well.
Open filter first, drain plug next, follow up with 8 quarts of 20x.5 MB spec synthetic oil

Another oil change. Filled it with exactly 8.5L. Showed 8.9 on the display. Fine, drained a half quart out. Now it's showing 9.0L. Drained another half quart out, and it's STILL showing 9.0L.
**** this.

Drained another full quart out. Still shows 9.0L.
I will never again buy another car without a dipstick. Not a goddamn chance.
