Hi guys!
A friend of mine wants to drop a clk55 engine in his facelift 2004 with amg bodykit, and needed a bit more info about what has to be done?
I sit a straight engine swap or some coding or something else has to be doing?
His clk500 done about 160k miles and he found an engine from 55 with 74000 miles.
Thanks

Should be a straight swap.

Engine family M113, only the intake manifolds will differ.

The exhaust should be replaced but it should bolt up.

No coding required but to utilize the performance of the 5.5 tuning is recommended especially if the exhaust is modified.
A 5.0 ECU might have ME 2.8 coding don't know. To swap ECU flashing required.

hope this helps a bit.

Cheers, Gator

It's five speed gearbox.
How difficult to flash it if I will buy a SDS can it be done by beginner to say so?

While it has 5G gearbox, means it's M113 Engine,

both using ME2.8, just swap the Engine, then tune will be so easy..

BTW;

Clk55 comes with "3.06" diff., while Clk500 comes with "2.82" or "2.65" (as optional),

he can choose the diff. Ratio with Engine swap..

Right,

I believe the twin cam engine started in 06 or 07. The M113 was up to 2005 but the transmission was upgraded to the 7 speed.

I can be wrong.
regardless it should be a bolt in with little coding.

Cheers

Just don't show it off as a true AMG. Some folks get offended.

Remember the 5.5 has 370lbs of torque so I believe the true AMG has the transmission from the V12 watch you don't wreck your tranny. Also rear diff is beafier etc

For the 2001 model year, Mercedes-Benz upgraded the CLK430 transmission from a 722.623 to the 722.632. The 722.632 continued to be used in the CLK500 until it was replaced by the 7G in 2005. Although the CLK55’s 722.636 transmission has a higher torque rating than the 722.632, the 722.632 is rated at 428 lb-ft. Although his transmission won't shift as fast, I don't think it will break.

excuse me guys its my bad its a 7 speed gearbox with the paddle shifters and Ive got another problem with the clk500 it wont start now
the key opens the ignition but when you turn to start it up it doesnt crank it does nothing at all
any clue where to start from?
the mechanic i showed it today to went through everything and managed to start the car with the wire connected to starter relay in SAM unit.
when you earth the wire the car starts from the key if not earthed doesnt i suggested him it might be a starter motor but he ruled it out saying it wouldnt startat all if that was a starter motor I dont know if he right or not.
suggestions guys please?

Drive Authorization
I did A113K swap from my E55 to A CLK 500.

I should have used A CLK55. Long story short I had the same problem it wouldn't start I did a drive authorization through the xentry And have fixed it

You need to do a drive authorization with the Mercedes computer xentry. I had the same issue with my swap that I did from AE55 to a CLK 500. Same issue but then I did the drive authorization and it fixed it.
