w209 CLK55...
Automobile magazine reports that "strong possibility of a 469HP supercharged CLK55".
If the w211 E55 is going to be a supercharged 5.5 V8, it makes sense that the CLK55 is also...
If this is the case, i would certainly suspect mid 4's for 0-60 as well as 12's for 1/4 mile.

Specs for the W209 CLK55 are already published on the M-B AMG worldwide website. No supercharger, but it'll have about 15hp more than the W208 CLK55.

However, considering what automakers tend to do, I have to wonder if they'll make the normally-aspirated version for 2 or 3 years, then throw on the supercharger to boost interest again.

i would'nt compare CLK55 with M3. It takes MB a 5.5 ltr V8 469 hp to get to grips with the M3 which has only 3.2 ltr 6 cylinder 343 hp.

Personally, after driving my CLK w/ 490 hp and 450lb/ft torque for several months now, I think most people I see driving Mercedes would get themselves killed in a 480 hp car with a weight similar to that of the current CLK.

can't wait for the day that MB puts the sl 55 engine in a clk.....don't know if it will ever happen but i'm sure if it does...the 55 will be the most sought after car for awhile unless BMW decides to follow precedent and somehow bump horsepower way up in the m3......

I just wonder how long it'll be before BMW goes to forced induction. Eventually, they'll have to. They're not going to be mass-producing 8000rpm V8s.

I have heard from a few sources that the new CLK55 will not have a supercharger - they think it will compete with the SL.
The E55 will definitely have the Kompressor though - not sure about S55.

From next year onwards, both the S55 and CL55 will use the supercharged 5.4 litre as seen on the SL55.
