Lit it sit overnight and do it again.
Get a suitable pliers and work the lock over with key. Gentle twist back and forth with an occasional inward push which opens the trunk.
Patients and lube will open it.
I would think the FOB should open it if a strong power source is connected to the battery terminal under the hood.
Hmmm!

So I'm hoping it only killed my battery and blew a fuse. Huge fail lol. I'm going to try to lube the crap out of the key hole to get it open. I've been out of town for 5 days so I haven't had the chance to mess with it yet.

when you manage to open your trunk always keep one of the latches unlocked in the trunk, one part of the rear backrest will stay unlocked for safety reasons so you can crawl into the trunk from the backseat if something happens in the futura, someone might jam a screwdriver into your lock you can't access your trunk, what ya gonna do, who do ya gonna call?
you going to have to call Lockbusters to help you out?
I say maybe this might help you?
if you don't manage to unlock your trunk, drain it with WD-40 let it soak for several hours
try to carefully use you blade key and wiggling your lock with the key.
maybe you can try to blow it clean with a hosed air pressure nozzle?
this might be your last option if the other ones don't work out for ya?
you can also try to remove the backseat cushion and then unbolt one part of the backrest.
MB locks are crap quality, if you don't use your key on regular basis exercising the bootlock with your blade key, lock will seize and destroy inside from salt, debrise and other crap.
I bought a plastic cap made for bootlocks from stealership, keeping bootlock and doorlock clean and lubed with oil protected by the tiny plastic cap
just plug the cap in to protect your locks
smart thing to do is to visit your stealership ordering the plastic cap for locks.
good luck fixing your issue

It's a moving, grinding part and it needs maintenance.
I'm only familiar with MB, have no experiance with other brands
not many people know that the locks needs lubing and exercise with metal blade key.
when battery goes flat or soemthing else happens your're locked out.
the small metal protective flap on the lock which push in when you insert the key doesn't protect very much, gunk might still get inside causing all kinds of issues over the years if you don't use your blade key on regular basis.
keep the lock lubed, buy the plastic cover plug, insert it and now and then exercise your lock with the blade key.
lock will reward you
I tried to search for the article for you and was unable to locate it. Trust me though follow this procedure. This is considering you have a coupe and not the convertible.
I will keep my fingers crossed that you own a coupe. The OVP should of done its job in terms of your neighbors mistake.Btw pay no mind to shadenfroh, I never do this but the guy is a fool. Who in the world would consider not using a trunk key neglect.
We use the remote for a reason. One must understand that if a lock is not manually turned over a long period of time it will cease at some point or require a good amount of work to turn it. In my case I disconnected the battery and closed the trunk. I recently acquired the car and never used the key in the trunk, so how would I have known. I figured it would work, but it did not. This cannot be considered "neglect". Neglect is not flushing the oil at the proper intervals or pushing off a repair when you know there's a serious issue. I guarantee you the majority of 208 and 210 owners out there are completely unaware of this issue on their car. I attempted to unlock my 210 from the trunk after I realized the problem and sure enough the same exact issue as my 208. I hate to see people respond like that and felt the need to comment. We're here to help each other out. He simply responded back w/ a meaningless post. This is not your fault!!Best of luck,

If it is not operating, it is as simple as spraying in some appropriate lubricant, then working the key in and out a few times, then turn it back and forth with key all the way in until it starts to work. Can take a while.
Keep the WHOLE car maintained, and these issues will be less likely to occur.
If it was 30 yr old GM or Ford it wont matter which key you put in there, itll probably still turn...
