My first experience with a BS

Well I was at the dealership yesterday getting the CLS lowered, walked into the showroom and there sits a black on black BS. Wow what a car, after about an hour of looking over it and speaking with my salesman I take it out for a spin (I have purchased a lot of cars from this dealer they are not just letting it out).
This may be the most impressive car I have ever seen in stock form. I have owned lambos, a lot of AMG cars, highly moded 996 turbos, big turbo supras ect... And I am amazed by this car. The power was not as brutal as I expected but I am use to peaky turbo cars, the power is very linear with lots of Tq all through the rpms the cornering was impressive very flat with quick turn in and just a touch of oversteer. The overall looks, performance and power of this car was really unexpected. I think it rivals the Porsche gt3 gts in fun and blows it away in cool.

Those of you who own this car consider yourself lucky. What a ride, I am considering making a spot in the garage. Something may have to go because I cannot get the BS out of my head. I have not been this excited about a car since I was a kid.

While I have not had the kind of cars you've had (pretty much have stuck with the unmodified german variety), my first experience and reaction to the CLK BS was exactly like yours. G'head and make room for it as it will stick in your mind until you do.....

As far as your comments go about the power....the motor really neds to be broken in. I noticed about 20% more power after 1000 miles and much better fuel economy - FWIW....Now, I can break the rear end loose in a straight line all the way through 2nd gear.

What do you consider much better fuel economy, because with 3700 miles on my car I am averaging slightly over 15 mpg per tankful, with a high of about 18mpg on the highway. I saw someone post that they hit 22mpg but I have no idea how they are managing that.

I got 22.2 MPG on a 600 mile drive to Vegas. Get this - it was over 24 MPG for the first half of the trip, all freeway at 55-60MPH in traffic! The last 150 mi on I15 into Vegas was pretty fast - but still traffic. Pic below is the computer when we rolled into town.

Thats true I did not think about the break in. Most motors pick up a bit after some miles. The power is perfectly balanced as is, of course that is no reason not to turn it up a bit. I think the car is such a departure from what I expect from MB, not just a dolled up CLK but a truly out of the box concept. I can't get it out of my mind, I think the girlfreind is going to be mad at me pretty soon

i live in atlanta and i just attended an AMG event at a local dealer (RBM of atlanta). they had 3 BS there, two black on black that were for sale and one silver one that belonged to a lucky guy named Ed Strickland. He picked his up in affalterbach along with 9 other americans. he drove it on the autobahn at 190mph and he attended a week long amg racing school where he got to race his clk bs on a couple real racetracks in germany. he had made a dvd of his trip which they played during the event.

i think he was able to buy his through amg directly by winning some kind of contest in the AMG lounge (another forum) where you pay the reg stock price and pick up car up from the factory and meet the guy who built your engine and ****. i was so jealous at the thought of being able to walk through the amg assembly plant in affalterbach. I was humbled when he gave my c43 a good looking over and gave me a nod of approval...

I live in Atlanta also this car is at ACC in Duluth. Wonder if it was one of the ones they drove it dose have a few miles and was discounted to $117k. Yes a European delivery at AMG would be something special.
