CLK63 Race Car at Laguna Seca

Same post from the W211 AMG forum, but not everyone looks.

From the AMG PL event for the SL65 BS release. This is from Sunday Nov 16, 2008. The CLK63 Race Car was giving hot lap rides.

Here is a short video of a C63 on the paddock lot autocross course

I will post some SL65 BS clips another day.

That is some great footage. Thanks. From the cornering sounds.... it sounded like the car was on street tires, which is unusual for a race car.

Just proves how bad *** that CLK 63 Race Car was. The sound is just symphony. Suspension looks so dialed in that when it cornered i didn't even see a body roll. The downshift throttle blip sounded awsome as well.

Thanks for the video. I especially enjoyed the throttle matching down shifts. Let see AMG built two of these race cars, which aren't going to be raced! Then AMG tells us it's too costly to upgrade the BS to the rev matched downshifts, alla C63. I believe I'll mention this on the PL next month. I wonder what it cost to develop the ecu's for the race cars?

is this tranny manual or auto with paddle shift? Funny about the rev matching downshifts like the c63.

Not really mid corner as its a really late apex.

i was under the impression that all downshifting should be done in a straightline so as not to unsettle the car from sudden drivetrain shocks.

I don't think at those speeds the car was upset as the pro drivers somtimes don't follow the rules that us mortals use when driving.

The tires are PZERO CORSAs (93Y)
265/30-19 front
285/30-19 rear
Treadwear reating of 60
These are the same tires they were using on the Red CLK63 BS

As you probably know, these are the stock tires.

Exactly...Usually it's better to get your gear changes done in a straight line, but many times in racing it's used in conjunction with trail braking and/or to increase weight transfer to the front. Really just depends what your trying to accomplish.
