US and EU Spec?

I was wondering if there are two specs of the Black Series.

It seems that all the ones I drool over from America have lovely big lush leather seats and the trademark folded leather door inserts.

However, when I look at ones on autotrader uk and European sites, they appear to have those Recaros and the carbon fibre door inserts.

This is strange to me as I thought the whole point of the Black Series was to get rid of all the luxuries to make it as light as possible.

This has lead me to think there are two specs of the car, a US spec which is more luxurious and an EU spec which is more track orientated. Am I right?

It is just as you depict it, the US model has additional (heavier) stuff.
It's mandated by certain federal laws that we have additional windbags in the car just in case we run out of them in Washington DC.

In the US, the seats and doors have airbags.

Like what DFW said the US Federal law takes away the light stuff in replacement for more of the safety versions (seats, etc..).

Hey guys, thanks for quick reply.

It seems strange why the option for all the luxury style stuff isn't available in Europe, I am sure a lot of people would appreciate that seeing as the bucket seats would probably get tiresome after a while.

McGrory, I'm sure you could make an extra Euro or two by sourcing some of those EU seats and door panels for members on this board. I bet that if you could source 3 or 4 sets, you could sell them here. Whether there's an acceptable margin is the question.

We pine for the hard core stuff and you can have our luxury stuff. (Of course it would work just the opposite if we had the hard core stuff from the outset.)

We'll never run out of windbags in DC, will we Chuck?
I wonder if we can peg the value of the BS to the dollar so when the inevitable inflation run hits ..... the good guys win!

Ironic that European car enthusiasts want away with the exact things that the Americans are begging for in regards to this car. I woudlnt change the seats for the Recaros / Sparcos but the door panels would be the first things to change on my list.

We have the DOT to thank for all the useless leather and airbags. You have AMG to thank for the all the Carbon Fiber Candy.

I"m working on a 09 CLS63 030 then a BS for when the family is at home. Coming from racing karts I prefer the Recaro/Sparco seat. I was going to ask how to get a set of factory seats over here? The BS would see more track days and hill climbs then running to Whole Foods or cruzin into town. My feeling is having NO badges on the car. I was thinking of putting 350 CDI on the back of both CLS and BS. It's worked in the past on other toys

Someone after my own heart.. My M is de-badged and I once considered putting Z4 2.5 badges on it...
