Possible new owner....Thoughts on this BS?

Have been lurking for a while and have decided to go with a BS as a daily. Currently use my RS4, but the traffic in the San Fran Bay area is killing me with the 6 speed. Not new to "performance" vehicles, but have never owned a MB. Looking at this BS in the link below:

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...gIndex=1&Log=0

Thoughts on mileage and price? It says 2 yr warranty left, but the inservice date is Aug 08 according to the carfax.

Anything to look for specifically during the PPI? Thanks, and hope to be a owner soon!

Looks clean, priced well. The white ones are gorgeous, and rare. It claims it still has a 2 year bumper to bumper manufacturers warranty, is this a CPO car? I would get clarification on the warranty, if it is indeed a MB/Daimler warranty then this deal is too good to pass up. The fact that they have it advertised at that price means you should be able to grab it for a couple grand under that price, but even if they do not move much on the price it still looks fair based on the photos and CarFax.

Check to make sure the 1000 mile service/dif fluid change was done. It was a free and recomended service for all CLK Black Series. Check the oil dip stick, these things are know to consume some oil, as much as a quart or so every 1000-2000 miles in the worst cases. Pop open the air filter covers to make sure the air filters are not smoothered in oil, these cars get some blowby, hence the oil consumption. A few guys have had some issues with MAF's getting oiled up from oil blowby build up in airboxes. Not a big problem even if you see some oil in there, just make sure that if there is some oil you get some new filters and wipe out the airboxes once you get it home or have the dealer you are purcahsing from do it. A lot of guys are running the Wesitec oil catch can on these 63 motors, it really eliminates the blowby problem. Other than that there is really not too much to look for, just drive it and put it through the gears both in auto and in M with the paddles and make sure it's all there and there is no clunking between the gears. These cars/motors are rock solid and there have not been many major issues reported on any of the forums.

Good Luck

Owner probably purchased the MB 3yr/75Kmi extended warranty which would coincide with the 2 years of remaining coverage.

I saw the car in person. The dealer (young guy, real nice) offered it to me for 65K. Pretty good deal all in all with the warranty. Good luck!

Interested/curious about the warranty, as well.

+1 to what everyone else has said. Jump on this one before it passes you by.

Ya, price on this one is almost too good to be true especially if it can be had for $65k like nikka claimed. If it's a CPO or MB/Daimler extended warranty it's icing on the cake. Obviously without seeing it in person and really putting it under the microscope it's hard to say but if OP has seen car in person he should call the dealership with an offer and CC deposit right away. I don't think I have seen a white one go for under $70k

The miles are a little high, which is why this is priced where it is (plus run an Autocheck besides the Carfax, sometimes the info isn't the same). But the mileage is absolutely nothing to worry about, especially with the MB warranty.

The only strange thing on this car (that I noticed) is the black-painted signal lamp cover. Change that to white as soon as you get it.

It appears to have a black-painted (or wrapped) roof as well

I looked very hard at this car and drove it some weeks ago. Very nice example. Not perfect, of course, as it has 35k miles but it has had excellent care. All records from service at MB dealer I believe as well. The owner is a very conscientious guy and if I recall correctly he purchased it from a friend/neighbor so the car has a well documented and local history.

The black on the top is a carbon fiber look wrap which could be removed. The owner came to the dealership and was extremely helpful. Had I not found another Black in SoCal I would probably have taken this one. Looks hot in white!

Looks like a great car! I still have my RS4 and am about to sell it. Love it and I still love the stick. You'll love the BS if you get it.

The CLK BS is much better looking IMO than the new C BS.

Having owned and driven both, I disagree. But, that's very subjective. They're both awesome. And both worthy of the Black Series badge.
