Goodbye CLK BS
Well the CLK BS came and went. The C63 BS is better and the ACR was faster by ALOT and the CLK BS was actually a worse DD than I had originally anticipated. I took the car on a 6 hour trip and couldn't wait till it was over. The ride is too choppy for long rough highway (the ACR rides smoother) and the sound system and navi were terrible. Sooooooooo I traded it in on a loaded Black 2014 SRT Viper TA and let me tell you there is no way to compare the two. The Viper looks better, handles and rides better if you can believe that and it has a kickass entertainment system...not to mention a huge performance advantage. The new Viper TA is actually a good car to drive for an enthusiast type driver. No more CLK no apologies...been there done that im good.

Nice choice, congrads.
But youre comparing 2008 CLK to a 2014 Viper? not very fair i would think.
Dont get me wrong, I like vipers alot but if you took 08 viper i dont think youd give same feedback.

Don't let the door hit you. Doesn't sound like you had much good to say about the CLK BS which was made 6+ years ago and is beloved by many in the "industry".
Funny I've taken plenty of long trips with the BS and the wife hasn't complained one bit. Speaking of long trips, good luck on putting your luggage in that Viper.
Viper TA is a nice toy now that they made the interior improvements and TA mods. But so are a lot of other $120K+ cars...

I like Vipers, raw, powerful, good looking but your post came off sounding pretty negitive on the BS which automotive designer's rank as one of the 100 best looking cars ever ...so your comment on better looking makes one wonder how unbiased you are.
As far as the ride, didn't you change the suspension bushings? I suspect that might have some effect on the ride.
I think you've been less than candid in your comparisons so I'm looking forward to your post on Viper Alley when you ditch the Viper for the next replacement.

C'est la vie... Everyone is entitled to their preferences. It just means there is another CLK63BS on the market for a new owner to enjoy. Enjoy your new ACR experience!

I did like the CLKBS for backroad burning and rolling around town....the look was aggressive, the sound was awesome, and build quality was excellent. After doing bushings it did stiffen the ride but made the car MORE enjoyable, not less....however after a long brutal piece of highway, getting lost three times due to the poor NAVI and having a sound system that makes it impossible to navigate through an Ipod well...I realized that MB improved the C63BS sooo much over the CLKBS that it really made it obsolete in MY garage compared to the newer or faster cars...I didn't hate it I just didn't like it as much as I thought I would compared to the other cars I own or have previously owned. I love all AMGs and cant wait to own the next Black Series(wanted an SLS BS but I cant even shut the door my head is 3" above the interior door line and my knees were in the dash....yes a Viper has more room if you can believe that)....I am glad I got to own and drive the CLKBS, but am happy to pass it to the next owner. Heres a pic of the TA, this is a keeper like the ACR or CBS....I test drive all types of cars before I buy....if I didn't go for the TA I was going to get a E63 S-line to run around with but after driving the TA I am addicted and cant wait to get back behind the wheel....the CLKBS did not do that for me. I apologize to any I have offended on the CLK but please go drive one of the TA Vipers before casting any judgement on the car....its pretty damn good and has good luggage room for 2

Can't wait for the day after many wealthy guys have ditched their CLKBS for Vipers or anything of that sort.
That day I will be able to buy a babied, the first, the one to have BS.
The CLKBS checks the same boxes today that the original gullwing did back when it was "new". It is for this reason that many, many years from now, this rare beast will roll thru auction houses commanding big dollars, just like original gullwings do today.
"A Viper?! Oh yeah, we have many of them out back. What color do you want? Wing or no wing?"

How can you possibly compare the CLK-Black to the Viper? The purpose built Viper a ground up Sports car with a modified mid size Mercedes?
Come on, you can do better than that. Not going to score too many points around here with posts like that. Maybe you should have spent some money and made the necessary improvements to the Black to improve the overall performance. If your BS rode rough maybe you should have checked out tires, pressures, and shock settings. What did you have on the car? My BS came with 20" NITTO 265x25's F, 305 R and the ride was horrible. Went back to 19" and 275's, 295's Mich. super sports and the ride is smooth and comfortable even with the Delrin bushings in the rear.
Last week I had my 2013 SRT Jeep in for service and they had an identical car to your Viper in the showroom.
I test drove it and quickly felt the improvements they made. Didn't care for the old ones but they are just about there with the evolution of the car. Enjoy and be safe. That Viper can bite you.

I have had my 09 Viper ACR Hardcore the whole time and its modded....now that's the Viper that bites....the new one is a luxury ride in comparison. My C63BS isn't going anywhere either. That car with track, aero, and carbon pkg is even more rare than the CLK, I only have 3 spots in the garage to limit myself from my car addiction so the C won the spot.

I have to admit, I 've not of someone selling any MB BS to get into a Dodge.... ever. An SLS didn't check all the boxes for you?
From the reviews of the new Viper, it does sound like a nice machine ; finally. Enjoy it man. It looks all business !
I drove a track ready one once in 2005 (on track) and I just didn't get it I guess. Was tough and scary to drive fast, of course, I was used to it either. Quite sure it was pretty hammered down too , felt awfully loose and not well built at all. But then again, not many cars build quality compares to an MB.

I did want an SLS BS first and had a chance to get one at MSRP which I would have shelled out gladly, but.....I did not fit in the car...not even close....I tried and contorted but could not get into a position that I could drive the car effectively....I couldn't even close the door...my head was 3" past the interior roofline and my knees were in the dash already with the seat as far forward as I could stand so I could drop the seat the furthest and put the seat back to the rear wall. So the SLSBS was a no go due to physical restrictions. I actually fit in the Viper your legs go far under the dash and my 09 ACR has a 2" seat lowering kit while the new TA didn't need it. The pedals have a large amount of adjustment in both the 09 and 14. I also looked at a 14 911 turbo s, 14 E63S, 13 Gallardo(same problem as SLS and wanted to UGR it), and a 11 599(because of Chris Harris).....along with the SLSBS.....before getting rid of the CLK for the TA. A crazy mix of cars but these were the contenders for my spot.

A 2014 991TT S … really??? I'm sorry, but there is no Viper out there that I would take over the Porsche … not in a long shot. The TT S is on par with a 991 GT3 (for the first time) when it comes to handling, has ALL the grip in the world, a lighting quick and responsive PDK gearbox, pulls like a freight train, active aero for great high speed stability, easy and comfortable to drive in traffic and long distance, a high quality interior with great ergonomics/electronics all wrapped up in a stunning looking exterior. And by the way, it has PLENTY of leg and headroom … way more than a CLK BS
To say the least, a 991 TT S is in another zip code altogether … in every aspect … including the MSRP

The 911 TT S was very good but I just cant get used to driving a Porsche for some reason.....it feels different than the front engine cars I have been used to.....it was smooth and easy to drive but it just didn't do it for me either... kind of like my 10 GTR didn't do it for me....My dealer has a lightly modded GT2 6 speed manual coming in on trade for a new GT3 and he told me that would be the Porsche I would want if any.....he told me to start making another garage space because he was that confident I would love it....I guess we will see in a couple months... I have yet to own a Porsche....growing up my father had a 928s, 928s4, 928GTS(which were front engined and I liked them at the time)and a 993 Carrera, my sister had a 997 C4 Cabrio also, I just never got along with the porsches, back then I was driving modded F-bodies and thought nothing was better LOL....until I got my first AMG in 04 an 02 E55....I do eventually see a Porsche in my garage just havnt found the right one. The Viper TA is a pretty crazy ride and driving it literally 30 min. after driving the 911TT S there is no way I could pick the Porsche, I would actually choose my C63BS over the 911 tts too.

LOL … whatever makes you feel better … your assessment of the CLK BS should have been a dead giveaway … Thanks for verifying!

Dunno. With the exception of the comments on the looks, which are subjective, without having driven a Viper, the OP's commentary, on its face, could be very accurate. From what I've read, the C63BS is more technologically advanced and less wild a ride than the CLK BS but that makes sense since its 5 years newer and the CLK BS was made in the last year of that platform's existence. The Viper is also completely new so it's probably less of a widow-maker than previous versions and it's going to have modern electronics, driver assists, etc. Haven't taken a long road trip in my BS yet so I can't comment on comfort on a 6 hr drive but I have done long trips in a 997 w/sport buckets and would have preferred the BS's seats a lot more. All relative I guess. I'm actually glad to hear that Detroit is putting out some world class autos. Congrats on the purchase. Enjoy.

I did love the seats in the CLKBS, the bolsters were big, strong and comfortable enough....I wouldn't mind having those seats in my CBS or any other car for that matter....
