Battery dead trunk locked

Hi guys, I think I may have left the light on on my 2007 CLS 550 and now the car is totally dead, I mean as dead as optimums prime without a spark. Not a light on nothing zilch nada. Thankfully I left the car open now I can get into the car. However , here is the kicker, the manual small metal key on the key chain does not work to open the trunk or the driver door. Somehow this key does not work. It goes into the key hole but it will not turn. I tried the passenger door and the trunk.

So my question is , is there anyway to get juice to this car through jumper cables other than the battery in the trunk, cause I can't get to the trunk ?

Or is there a trick to using the metal manual key to open the trunk ? Is it possible that I have a wrong key? I have always used the electric key and it's has worked fine for the past 5 years.

Thanks

The key FOB comes with a detachable key within the key Knob. Just slide the little black piece and you can unlock a metal key inside and with that key you can unlock the trunk and or the glove compartment.

I just took these pictures for you:

Thanks for your reply , I got the little metal key out but it does not work in the driver door or the trunk . I'm not sure why. I have checked the glove box . But I know it does not work in the driver door or the trunk.

Make sure is in right. Twist it and all of that. You might be inserting the key in the wrong position(hard to tell from an e-mail)

I tried the metal key on the glove box and it works , I still could not get it to work on the door or the trunk. It's almost like the car got a stroke .

Any ideas on how I can jump it from under the hood or what other options I could try

Call the dealership. As far as the cigar lighter for charging, the answer is no. That is not a live receptacle when the car is off. Porsche is the only car I know that has a live receptacle to charge when the car is off. I had to have my MB hard wired from the charging point under the hood for the battery tender that I use when the car is parked for long periods of time.

After messing with the key for half an hour with no luck in the driver door or the trunk I hard wired the juice under the passenger footwell and used it to get some volts through the car and then I popped the trunk.

Good info, however, what do you mean by "hard wired" In other words what were the other ends of the cables in the picture connected to.?? Spare battery, charger ?

When ever you try these different methods to boost a car, always make sure the donor car or vehicle is off when connections are made ( in this case you were just looking for trunk open voltage so restart was not required ) then restart the donor vehicle and proceed with trying to start the dead vehicle. Normal voltage for a battery is 12.6-12.8V but with the vehicle running the voltage is 14.1-14.2V as well as the current spike when the connection is made because the Voltage reg will `see` the dead battery and instantaneously jump in to charge it. Mucho sparko as voltage is the carrier and the current does the work or damage if done incorrectly.
