New Owner, have some questions!

Hi All. Just got a 2013 CLS550 4Matic. I am absolutely IN LOVE with my new car. It's everything I wanted but I have a few questions, hoping you guys can help.

I have navigation with backup camera, but the camera doesn't show those helpful green and red lines on the screen to guide me in parking. I know the 2014 model however does have these lines. Is there anyway for me to switch out any modules or upgrade my system to have this feature?

Yeah you'll get a lot of that here! Welcome and congrats on the car! Youll get a lot silent treatment here! As far as I have read if you have the larger screen on your command you should be able to re code it!

How does one go about re-coding it? I'll literally do anything to have this feature!

See what version your command is and then see if there's an update for it would be the first thing. If that doesn't give you that then google your little heart out lol. Command will be the same across multiple cars so doesn't have to just be for cls. If the option isn't in the Engineering menu then it would have to be an added option (option code) with a Mercedes STAR system if possible. A lot of European youtubes do things like this if it's possible. I'll do some searching as well

What am I looking for exactly in the engineering menu? I saw some things last time I Checked, but there's no clear "On" or "Off" type scenario.

OP,

There are a few threads on this forum that discussed this very topic. If you read through them, you'll see that there apparently isn't any easy upgrade to provide you with this functionality. At least from MB anyway. Some folks have resorted to pulling out the command unit and putting in third-party solutions. I don't know if that's a path you want to pursue, but apparently that is an option.

You should of course check with your local MB dealership service department to see if a software / firmware update to your command unit has been released by MB since the last posts on this topic. The movable lines you see when the rear view camera is active are from a senor in the steering wheel tracking the rotation of the wheel. So you would also have to verify that the model year car you have has this necessary steering wheel sensor in place as well. Otherwise, any command unit software update won't do you much good. Again, either something that a more knowledgeable member of this forum can verify for you or something that a MB service department can tell you.

Hopefully this helps a bit.

Like others have said, there is unfortunately no easy retrofit for it. I looked into it when I bought my 2013CLS63. Sorry.
As a side note I have a comfort box and KW coilovers to sell if you are interested.
