Is this car running hot or what??

Ok I have no lights on and the gauge stays just above 85 and when I use the data screen to see engine data the hottest ive seen it 98 then it begins to drop in temp to the 80's. I go by the hood and fender and its hot as hell and I mean hot to the touch. I open the hood and i can feel the heat!! so I leave the hood up in the garage to help cool this phucer down. Now do these 4.7 twin turbo engine run that hot?? Again no warnings nothing as it all seems normal.

The temp gauge on my car hovers around about 85-90-Deg C. I’ve not checked if the hood is hot to the touch but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was. My previous M5 naturally aspirated v10 ran about 90-Deg also.

Perfectly normal, anything up to 100C is considered ok. 80-85 is where the thermostat starts to open, and by 96-98C the fan is running to keep it from getting hotter. You will see the temps sit ad 95C in traffic or parked running, but drop some on the highway if conditions are right, closer to the 85 mark. On the new ones they don't really cool back down, the higher temps are actually better for engine efficiency, so they stay warmer.

Joe here is the other thing. I am just not sure that there are gauges that read for the turbo cooler (inner cooler) I had to replace the all the cooling parts up front, radiator, condenser, trans cooler etc. I put G40 in there and it all went down. I put in more and it went down I finally got the damn thing full and it has been hold where it should. I can imagine that my turbos were running hot prior. I assume and I HOPE correctly that the main water pump circulates the coolant for the innercooler because I dont seem to have a precooler for it like on my Shelby Mustang.

There are no gauges for the turbo coolant system. You should have the small reservoir on the center of the engine for turbo intercooler coolant. They are self bleeding systems, they will continue to drop until all the air is out. The intercooler pump is electric, not the same as the engine coolant pump.

Joe that's not the small pump located on the lower right side is it? It's working but i thought it was for something else.

It's down in the front bumper area behind the right front fog light usually. The one you see on the frame rail is the auxillary heater circulation pump.

That's where mine hangs out too then I go into driving dynamics on the screen and look there and temp goes up to as high as 98 then drops to the 80s

This is the intercooler coolant pump, at the right lower corner of the heat exchanger for the low temp circuit.

Normal, from 80-100 is the range it cycles through depending on conditions and airflow. As it nears 100 the fan comes on higher and higher to control it, as it drops towards 80 the thermostat closes and limits cooling to maintain operating temps.
