C218/W218 Navigation Maps
One of the questions I asked them was if there was a navigation update for my car?
We are seeing a lot of growth around here and I recently went to visit a friend and his whole subdivision was missing. I knew when I moved here that my house wasn't on the map but at least you can find your way here. I expected to pay for the upgrade, but was defiantly told when I dropped the car off there was no maps upgrade but they would double check. When I picked the car up this morning, it seems they'd forgotten to check and the flustered service advisor and another person made some checks and said no, despite my car having the original "2012/2013 (v8.0) N. AMERICA" maps there is no update.
He offered to call me when an update came out, my response if there isn't one after 6-years there won't be one now. Is there a definitive way I can find out if there is an upgrade available? How, where?
Thanks for any feedback.
The question is, how do I compare that to what I have to decide if it's more recent or not?
The web page contains no date of release, no release number etc. Thats what I find so confusing about this whole process.
Separately, I aqcuired a USB key with "updated map data" but the key requires a code to install, the code is only available through the dealership for a price. Which if I knew what was actually on the maps, I'd be happy to pay...
This data implies it's V3, but mine says(see above) it's V8 ? > Map Version DVD Name=2015 (V3.0) N.AMERICA
This data implies it's the 2014 Q1 Update, which is probably newer than mine since I got it in November 2013.
The Mercedes part number implies it's newer than the one I acquired, it's part number is BQ 6460344 the online part number is Mercedes-Benz part number: BQ 6460361
I must admit, I'm thinking something like this might be a better alternative assuming I can find someone to install it...

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
1. downloading the maps online.
2. unzipping and loading the maps onto a memory usb stick/drive
3. about an hour and 15 minutes loading into the car. It takes that long for the software to upload to the car.
You have the car running so no loss of battery charge. You can even drive while it's uploading. You just lose a few Comand options while it's doing that.
Also, CarPlay wasn't an option for years 2012 - 2014 (NTG-4.5 & NTG 4.7) I don't think Carplay became an option until NTG-5.0.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
