I just put my name on the Launch edition at my dealership today. It is indium grey with cashmere beige interior. Launch package was $8500 over base price but the spec sheet did not include what was in the package. Launch editions just showed up in the computer systems at the dealerships last night. I will receive my car January 17th...launch date.

Has anyone seen indium grey? Does it go well with cashmere beige interior?

This may be Iridium Gray. Awhile back in another forum it was mentioned that this may be "Perlite" in Europe and Iridium in USA. However Iridium Gray is not showing on US colors. I ended up ordering Black. I think this gray is very good looking and would have ordered it.

tha color wont be an option in the us? damn i was womdering what the name of that color was b/c i think it goes good with the CLS. how can i find out for sure.

i jsut came back from the LA auto show and the CLS55 amg was absolutely stunning i personally would get it in this color

any pics? what color was there? and do u think the rear end slops too much or u didnt even notice, b/c that is my main concern.

Is the burgundy red CLS you posted the CLS with the AMG styling package? It looks like it has the AMG "spoiler" but lacks any AMG badging on the right rear trunk. Also curious if you can get the "sunset red" interior with the burgundy red exterior?

its a CLS500 not a 55AMG. just b/c it has a amg package which it doesnt look to me that it does, doesnt mean that its a AMG. like many threads posted ppl put them on after they buy the car thinking that if they have something that is AMG they have an AMG.

Irridium Gray is a stand alone option according to my dealer.

iam sorry for not knowing what that means. but what does a stand alone optin mean? does it mean that it is a option that u can get?

Actually, that color will be an option in the US. However, the only way to get will be to get the launch edition car which if I'm not mistaken is Indium Gray. Do not mistake it with the Iridium Silver, which is alot lighter. You can tell by looking at the following pictures. I think I'm 99.9% correct but if somebody thinks otherwise, please let us know.

The first photo attached does appear to be the CLS 500 launch edition in the indium grey. Note the seven spoke wheels which will also be only on the launch edition. Other things included in the launch package are active ventilated seats, matte oak wood (kind of orange like chestnut), wood steering wheel and shift, harmon kardon surround sound stereo with 6 cd changer, cashmere beige nappa interior, with black floormats. I got this info from one of the people who made the selections for the launch edition with Mercedes in New Jersey.

Those aren't US-spec cars, so he was just showing the COLOR of the car. "Launch Edition" is just a set of options that MBUSA pics (your person in NJ), but the colors and options are available separately in other areas of the world.

So again, his point was just that this is the COLOR.

In any case, colors are really difficult to show in computer photos, as everyone's computer is set differently.

It may not be a US spec car but it does have the identical appearance of the photo sent to me by the Mbusa CLS product specialist. I have seen the indium grey on the Mercedes Spain website which has the configurator setup with all the European exterior colors. The Spanish website is by far the best for exterior color display as the it has the 360 view and can be magnified considerably. You just have to stumble through the Spanish to get to the configurator.

The CLS 500 in the states will have 5 spoke wheels except for the launch edition which will have the seven spokes identical to the picture shown. CLS55 will have the sporty 5 spoke. The indium grey may be offered later in the states as an option but MB has not made a decision on that yet. So for now, indium grey is only on the launch edition. But there are quite a few of them available for sale on Monday as every US dealership is receiving one. I am told there will be a total of 1000 launch units.

Mbusa also sent me a photo of the launch interior. I am a little concerned about the matte burl oak wood...it is sort of an orange color. Mbusa says that they consider it to be similar to chestnut. Has anyone ever seen this oak on a MB before? Thoughts? Photos?

On my post regarding launch package I forgot to include that it also has the bi-xenon curving lights.

Sorry, by option I meant metalic paint. You can order a car w/ irridium w/o the launch package.

I have pictures of the launch edition interior (just got back from checking it out), but since it is digital, I am not sure that it will represent the color on your computer any better than the picture you have from MBUSA. It does look similar to the eucalyptus in the S-class, except matte. Because it is matte and the lighting can vary, it's difficult to compare, since I didn't have the S-class wood right there.

I'll try and get some pics off my camera though. Having trouble finding my card reader.

Yes, for now you can't. It seems that Mercedes will only use that color for their Launch Edition cars and that will be it However, try talking to your dealer to see if they can custom order your car for a small premium. I think the cost is $1,000 to choose any exterior and interior color that is available. I know for a fact that Jaguar offers that service and some Mercedes dealers too. It might be worth it if you really want something rare and unique!

My dealer has several Irridium cars coming in that are not launch editions. Could this vary from dealer to dealer??

That would be outstanding if you can post the interior pics, Scorchie. I would like your opinion too about the exterior color, interior color, launch options and wood as you have now seen the car in person.

I think so because one of my first delivery cars will be here at the end of the month and it's Iridium Silver on Black. It has the Premium and the Lighting Package and the MSRP is only $72,130, which is more than $3,000 cheaper than the Launch Edition.
