Really starting to think about buying one as a daily driver when the hit $79,000 USD. A bunch now in the $90k's. Another year or so and I believe they hit $79k with super low miles. Looks like they will be $60-$70k off sticker. Great Car at a Great value! Anyone else holding out to see where they bottom out at?

I honestly don't think you'll see them in the $70k range in 12months from now.

If they depreciate like every other MB, they will be down there soon.

I hope to see them under 40k in a few years so I can buy one. Would make an awesome daily at that point.

hmmm, yeah, I don't know. I was fully capable of buying an SLS. I just never wanted one. I still don't want one. The lighter, nimbler character of the GT is what made me want one. We have read all of your other posts aha we understand that the SLS is not depreciating. Do you want a cookie?

Exactly.
I enjoy my GT for what it is. A depreciating asset which makes my daily drive an enjoyable moment.
If I need to have a return on my hard earn $$, an SLS or a car is not going to be my preferred method of investment.

I don't believe you can lump the GT into a pile with all the other mass produced AMG tuned cars. This is AMGs second car and is based heavily on the SLS, improving a lot of what was wrong with that car aesthetically and mechanically at a price point for significantly less.

As such, GT cars will depreciate, but at a much slower rate. Sure, you'll be able to buy high mileage odd color and optioned cars for less, but it won't be a car you would WANT to own IMO.

Cars rarely appreciate. If a car is appreciating, you will really pay a premium to get one. You will not want to drive it as much.
You will come out ahead when you sell it, if the market is still hot, and if your car is a desirable example.
The scenario of buying a car at a good price and then it becoming a hot commodity rarely happens. When it does happen, it is a really nice thing. You get to sell the car and get all or more of your money back, essentially driving the car for free or even making a profit. This doesn't happen too often though and I wouldn't fault a car for not falling into this rare category.
Im actually glad I waited for the 2016 GTS edition 1 hysteria to die down. My salesman was selling them at sticker plus. 18 months later I got into a GT way way way under sticker. For what I paid, I cannot replace it with anything that ticks as many boxes.

The GTS has been out for more than 2 years. You will see the less condition cars with higher miles hit the 70's no doubt but the key is when as 7x retail is lower 60k wholesale and that will take a bit. Take a peak at the latest auction sales. Remember these are MMR values which are cheaper than Lending Values and of course lower than Retail Values... but this is where the 16's are sitting currently. The below pricing is net net so there is still recon, parts, transport, fees, etc. But it gives perspective.

The majority are selling for much higher at the auction so their condition and miles are key indicators. But lets face it... the car slowed its pace about 9 months into distribution and its not a limited production car. Further the dealer network couldnt sell them so MBUSA had to throw down large trunk money chunks (10k to 15k) and thats not common for AMG and that drove down values also.

I'm just glad Mercedes let amg make the car. I'm glad they decided to position it lower than the SLS. I'm glad it's not an extremely low production car.

I secretly wish that they shortened the front end even more. The engine is so far back that I think it's possible. I really do not even need a v8. I just need 0-60 under 4 seconds.

Also when you look at the SLS. People are trying to sell retail at 180-200, but I do believe they are mostly going at exotic car auctions for 150-160, meaning that's where a collector feels safe. Still holding value really well though. I think the long term prospects are still good mostly because of the gull wing doors and low production numbers.

The used 2016 gts I looked at was pretty rough with only 4400 miles on the odometer. Even priced at $109000 with original MSRP of $145000 I passed. This was at a Mercedes dealership too.

A lot of times you get what you pay for. If you want to go ***** cheap on a used GTS, it may be in rough condition like this one.

You can get a brand new GT stickered at 126 for 112 or maybe less if your timing is right. I did late last year. Maybe not now but once the cars sit a while you can.

Yes I know. Do I have your permission to weigh new GT versus use GTS? Is that OK with you?

A friend of mine owns a higher end used car dealership, he just picked up a fairly well equipped plus carbon ceramic brake equipped GT-S 11,000 miles at auction for $72K. Keep in mind wholesale and auction prices are different than retail. If these prices surprise anyone they must not be paying attention, MB has flooded the market with these cars there are around 300 new ones listed on cars.com right now

Is that before the hammer price and taxes?

Well if yesterdays sale was any indication, the 16's had a nice day and not all of them were perfect in condition (5.0 is perfect)...

JR I wonder how clean that 72k car really was cause thats almost too low. Did it have any announcements like frame, oil leaks, etc?
