I am contemplating buying a GTS coupe. I had an opportunity to briefly drive a car yesterday, but didn't get to go completely nutso changing all of the seating positions.

I am 6 foot 4 inches tall, so I lowered the seat as much as possible and raised the steering wheel as much as possible. I still found that the top of the steering wheel was partially obscuring my line of sight to the top of the center rectangular information display. For instance, I had to dip my head a little to see what gear I was in when shifting manually.

Are other tall drivers able to get around this by changing either the seat recline or seat bottom rake? What I am trying to determine is that if I had time to fiddle with a bazillion seat adjustment permutations, is it likely that a kinda tall guy like me could find and store a seating position that would give me complete vision of the critical gauges?

Good advice posted. I'm 5'10" but raise my seat so I can see the end of the long front hood better which helps navigate narrow driveways and avoid curbing my rims. This in turn makes it more difficult to see stop lights out of the top of the windshield when I'm at an intersection. I had to play with my steering wheel position so it didn't interfere with visualization of the gear selector.

 

 

 

I'm 6'4" as well and have found that I prefer to have the seat (design seats) as low as it goes and back about 90-95% of the way which allows me to then recline a bit before the seat hits the interior wall behind it. I have the steering wheel up just enough to full see the controls but not all the way up. I find this very comfortable and, while I would be in trouble if I were any taller or if my torso were longer, I find the car to be a perfect fit. My head does not touch the top, but is close and the only negatives with visibility are that I cannot see the intersection lights if first in line and right at the line and that the rear-view mirror does block a decent amount of the centre / right portion of the windshield. I would recommend getting the panoramic roof as it does add a sense of height to the cabin as well.

 

 

It hits a point where it start's reducing the angle of the seat if I push it back all the way (or if I'm reclining too far, the seat moves forward as the recline keeps going to avoid touching the back) - I believe there is still a very small gap at this point

I know this is ages ago now, but did anyone find a solution? Just picked up my GT today and I don't get why the steering wheel can't adjust higher.

I feel as though there's got to be some mechanical adjustment of the available range or something. I'm only 6" tall but need the seat all the way down and tilted relatively far back for the screen to not be partially obscured by the top of the steering wheel.

 

as a noob, I am in the same boat. I got my car Monday, and during the test-drive of a different GTs I was not paying attention. This is my situation. 6'4" with 34-36" inseam. long neck. I am considering an aftermarket digital dash or HUD, especially if I track it. Sure do wish there was an aftermarket digital dash that would just display on the center screen. That would rock. Not wanting to put sticky double-sided tape on my leather dash....

My new thing to try is to tilt the wheel down so I can see the top edge of the gauges, so I can at least sort of tell what I am doing The steering wheel almost in my lap, but not a horrible sterering position. Seat is all the way down, all the way back to the back wall. No combo of lowering or sliding FWD so I can gangsta lean back, will allow me to see the gauges properly. I am probably just going to deal with it. I like the car for lots of reasons, otherwise. I "am" considering taking the seat out and exploring whether there is any room to cut/re-weld the seat rails to gain an inch or so. Probably not.
