If FI I might just go for the 992 TTS that blows the doors off of the 720s, which at at around $220k well specced all of a sudden looks like the best deal ever.
But the 992 TTS is just a snooze fest both aesthetically and dynamically. Even some of the reviewers look positively soporific.

For some folks, myself included, under the radar looks with World class performance at the same time is very desirable in this time and age.
I live in a very liberal, self righteous area where these morons feel obligated to police everyone else regarding the environment or political affiliations.

Well... I must sadly confim that it sounds like a crap.. Like A class. My buddy is a developing test driver for this car. I was last weekend on Nurburgring and i heard myself. He did LC next to me. Don't need to mention what dissapoint i felt. And i have allocation since a year but have hard moments to walk away...

When GTR came out and saw first images i said WOW that looks nice. When they showed PRO i said this looks mental. When BS officially came out i did not feel this WOW... Rather mixed feelings and more like bad tuning... And finally the price

I was at the Nurburgring last week and spotted it, aswell as the new W223 S-Class. Check out my video here:

The sound was, well not that impressive I'm afraid to say, due to all the sound regs and new filters fitted.

Black Series definitely sounded better than the Taycan Turbo S.

but I’m also getting tired of being on everyone’s radar. Im thrilled to have it but I’m looking forward to the next chapter where I drive a car no one notices that blows the doors off pretty everything out there. So far the noise my car makes isn’t an issue but I can see it being one in a few years when everyone else’s car is quiet.

that would depend on where you live. In Geneva (Switzerland) here, nobody really cares being honest. Expensive exotic cars are a common sight.

I agree and I am jealous, love Geneva, been there numerous times (my cousin lives there with her husband).
Probably the most beautiful city in the World, IMO.

Does anyone know whether they would paint the calipers gold under the designo customization service?

I tried the caliper color change for my GTRA and was denied.. Ferrari has multiple colors available and they come from Brembo painted the chosen color.. So I can't help but feel the Designo dept just doesn't want to go thru the logistics of ordering and syncing up the item to the build sequence...You are better off just removing your calipers after delivery and having a body shop re-paint them to your choice of color.. probably cheaper too...

I would prefer them to be factory equipped but may end up going the body shop route if designo won’t accommodate. I would also consider having the wheels powder coated solid black since I dislike the silver rim edge.

Just be thankful that designino is even available where you are! We have zero options for customization here.

I got a call from a good buddy from a P dealership with a super early TTS allocation with November delivery. So while I wait to see what happens with the BS I'll just putter around in that.

Basically cloned this 'snooze fest' spec:

My friends - I am out of the Black Series running. Was spending some time today at the dealership talking with a couple of the fellas that run the service department and (here in Canada) rumours of north of 500k are floating around.

For the price I'll look at adding something else to the garage and just build the Pro out over the winter time for the track next year!

Can't wait to see everyone elses though.

Side note - I love the BMW Nine T. Had a 2010 Triumph Speed Triple and a Duciati Diavel. Nine T is right up my alley!

jn66:

I am sorry you have decided not to purchase a Black. I am sure others here including me, will be making the same decision if the official MB US prices are as high as predicted.

In my assessment $400-$500k pricing makes the car an instant “garage queen” not suitable for occasional daily driving. As you said there are many other cars at much lower price points that can perform as well as the Black.

The new ZR1 Corvette (flat plane crank) is a great option and at this point you can buy nearly 3 of them for the same money.

Best regards

Jerry

I know lots of people moving to the new TT or TTS

The turbo is a bargain compared to a well
optioned 4S. I’ve also heard and read that the new Turbos actually are closer to the GT3 lineup in feel and drive. That’s always been my issue with the P cars, they are very talented but completely devoid of soul. Should be interesting once they start landing here. Good luck with the new car Soulsea!

Thanks man.

Honestly I really liked my 991.1 TTS, at least once I lowered it and put an AWE exhaust on it.

It was great on the street and also great on track. In fact I found it quicker on most tracks than the 991.1 GT3, which granted was somewhat underpowered for its time.

I mean, my expectation is that its going to be a faster more refined version of my 15 TTS.

A Swiss army knife, low key stupid fast car that doesn't scream 'look at me' that's equally capable as a dd as it is on track (although I probably won't track this one).

Man I miss those launches ... I remember any time I was in a bad mood I'd take it out, do about ten of them, and sit back with a smile on my face as if I was high. So I'm looking forward to that again.

I was looking at maybe getting a used 720S Performance but this will do the trick much better. TTS is faster where it counts and I don't have to legally marry the service manager at the dealership.

Totally agree. I just drove a 992 Turbo S. Going in, I thought: ‘I’m going to love this car and I’ll be $250k poorer.’ But it had Zero Soul. Nothing! It seemed like a confused car, between wanting to be a luxury GT and a sports car. I also didn’t like the interior of the 992 at all. The fact that two of the gauges are obscured by the steering wheel is ridiculous. It’s such a blatantly poor design, it’s not unacceptable. There are other elements of the interior that are just plain poorly designed or executed. Like the M button next to the P button to select manual shifts - it’s not at all like it was, and it’s easy to push the wrong button. The gloss black plastic trim is not replaceable and will look scratched and scuffed quickly. The leather also felt kind of cheap in places. I ordered a 718 Spyder instead. Probably the last new Porsche that feels like it should; but I digress.
