Getting a GTR Black Series...
https://carbuzz.com/news/mercedes-am...ing-lap-record
gave me the letter saying I get their 1
MB asked for my purchase history
dealer sent the long list, but did not include the meal I purchased at the Mercedes museum which was fairly good
am I in? I hope so.
planning a garage sale to get rid of crap to make room for the car. Let me know if you have a need for 80s LPs
Some of you should be hearing from your dealers very soon about your allocations.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Here's what I can tell you because I know it to be true ... reps have started contacting dealerships to tell them how many first round allocations they are going to get, and dealerships are taking that information and deciding who will get a car according to however they prioritize their waiting lists. Nothing is official, there's still no pricing, still no dates, and I don't know if all the dealership have been informed or at which pace the reps learn that themselves and pass that information on, but some dealers have contacted the customers that will be getting one on the first round, on the word of their rep, to tell them the good news.

It would seem we would at least know US pricing and production start dates.
You and I (I think) are in the same place on these cars. If US pricing is near what the euro whisper number is I gave my dealer a heads up that I’m going to pass.
I want to drive the car fairly frequently but not at that price point.
Best regards

Again all indications are that this isn't your uncle's black series, and after the initial run they will keep printing these cars as much as they can until they have to retool for the next gen GT, hence the reference by MB that time is the limiting factor. This is exactly what they did with the 2RS at the back end of the 991 gen when everyone expected that they were going to make similar numbers to the 997.2 2RS. That's fine, it cleared out all the speculators out of the GT market which was a good thing, unless you paid a premium for the car.
I don't really care about any of that, but performance value per dollar is a real thing, so if you want to charge me a premium over your direct completion that you're not blowing the doors off two years later, then you better be providing me with a limited 1 of xxx plaque, otherwise what exactly am I paying a premium for?

To make things worse ....for me, I can’t get real excited about how it looks either especially at that price.
Here’s an interesting side bar. There is a 2015 SLS Black gullwing, silver with red interior, 430 miles, garage kept very close to me at $425k asking. In this case a much nicer car at near the same price BUT I wouldn’t want to drive it around casually either. So, another garage queen.

Are you referring to second round allocations?
I’m going to stop talking about it now.

Very much undecided on how to proceed as I think a big hit (£100k ish?) is inevitable. Pre-Covid this wouldn't have bothered me that much but at the moment this really doesn't seem like a prudent decision!

Want the car but as WhiteBlack already mentioned, the Covid affair put a damper on my reckless spending and made me consider all aspects before plunking down any serious cash.

There you go guys.... so all of you can enjoy this intoxicating and awesome exhaust note!!!
What a shame....
