Prospective buyer 2016 model
Hello everyone. I am considering buying a 2016 gt or gts model.
is there anything I should worry about regarding maintenance? common known issues?
Is an extended warranty a must?

Nothing to worry about. I don’t see a need for extended warranty on it, but if it helps you sleep at night go for it.
Just stick to the mileage interval maintenance schedule and it should be happy and treat you well for many, many years to come!
some of the ‘16’s will still have a little bit of manufacturer warranty remaining, you can find that out by finding out the “in service” date and clicking off 4-years from that. With the VIN Amy MB dealer can give you in service/warranty start date.

If I were you look for a MB certified car and add 2 years. I did that in April of this year and my MB certified warranty does not expire until 2023. The certification will include 1 year and then add 2 more years which you can get for around $3550.00. I just wanted peace of mind which I now have until 2023. Also if you don't use or sell it before the 2 year certification kicks in MB will return all of your money or pro rate it based on how long it was in place. Something to think about. As an example, I purchased a 2017 S550 cab in December of 2018 purchased the 2 year certification and sold the car in April and MB gave me all my money back.

Yup get a Certified car, just got my GTS and have 1 year and paid for 2 more years, these are great cars but I have had many AMG's and if something goes it's better to have it in place.
